Windows 11
Greetings,

For some while now, (since Windows 10 and all versions of Windows 11) I have have trouble with establishing a reliable bi-directional link between two Windows 11 (both are 25H2) PCs over gigabit ethernet.

When I open explorer on PC 1, I can 'see' the icon for PC 2 under "Network". When I click on the icon for PC2, the shared drives appear and files can be read or files transferred OK between PC 1 and 2. I can also map an network drive without a problem.

When I open an explorer window on PC2, I can 'see' the icon for PC 1 but when I click on it, all that happens is "Windows cannot access 'PC1'" I can ping PC1 ok but that is no surprise..

I have tried disabling Malwarebytes, etc, but to avail,.

Aaarrggh!

Some insight would be appreciated :-)

Cheers

Steve

No guarantee but resetting the network on the laptop sometimes help. That fixed my Acer laptop with Windows 10 Pro when I couldn't connect to it anymore over my network.

Greetings, Mr Ed :-
Thank you for your suggestion... I have tried this before but the issue remains.. After enabling network sharing (selecting the private network option) I am still left with a normal function between PC1 > PC2 but not PC1 < PC2. What I have noticed is I DO get full functionality for a short while after switching on both PCs but soon after booting and, perhaps, logging on, the network issue returns.

Perhaps I need to see if Malwarebytes (or Windows defender is throwing a spanner into the works - though I am sure I have disabled them in the past.
