New Bluetooth headphones won't connect


I am personally all out of ideas. It’s at this point I would “usually” suggest an in-pace repair/upgrade, but I really don’t think that is the problem.

You seem to have run some kind of Dell hardware diagnostic and the Bluetooth hardware came back as working. So I can’t think off the top of my head what may be blocking you from connecting to devices.

Yes, I am even using an old pair of Bluetooth headphones right now.
Anyway, I have noticed that there is a service that keeps disconnecting, but looking at videos etc.it should be connected. It connects if I connect it manually, but nothing happens then. I wonder if there is an issue with services? It is the BluetoothUserService.

Some people fixed the problem with a power flush, but I can't right now because I first have to find the screwdriver to open the laptop and remove the battery.

Apparently other people who have problems connecting have problems with this service. How can I fix this service so that it connects and stays connected?

There is a remote possibility that even though the phone is off, because the headphones are still paired with the phone, that's all they'll look for and/or recognise

Make sure the headset is unpaired from the phone and then re-try with the computer.

Thanks, but it didn't work. I think there is a bug or something, as the keyboard won't connect either now. I have some registry backups and also image backups but they are all old because I didn't make any changes in months apart from downloading or saving files. Maybe I can just save the new files (which I have done regularly) and try to restore an old registry? Windows updates would be gone, but maybe they caused the problem in the first place.

I have tried power flushing and it didn't work either...
I was just wondering if by any chance there is some software to pair and connect Bluetooth devices? I mean third-party software. Sometimes they are better than Windows. XYplorer always works fine when for some reason Windows Explorer plays up for example, so who knows....

OK, possibility of failing bluetooth adapter, it kept working while connected but now ....

Try a bluetooth USB dongle.

I would suggest you look at the option of an in-place upgrade repair. It may be hardware based issues (Dell diagnostic said it isn’t) but it could be something corrupted in Windows. Last question before you do, are you using support software for the keyboard, from the manufacturer?

If you follow the tutorial, you can keep everything you have on your PC but repair the state of Windows.
But it’s always suggested that you make an image backup of your current system first.

I have tried restoring an image backup and the keyboard is back, but the headphones still won't connect...
I will look at the in-place upgrade, but I am too tired today after waiting to restore the backup image... :( Actually, I did the in-place upgrade before. It does delete updates if I remember correctly, but otherwise it doesn't touch files or anything?
The question is - which update should I then avoid? Because I think it was an update that caused this (many other people had Bluetooth ruined by an update according to what they said and had to wait for a new update to fix the problem...)
Or is this new? The tutorial mentions reinstalling the current version of Windows... I remember that in the past it installed a version without updates. I cannot wait to try it...

I have fixed it! I downloaded the Bluetooth and the Device Association and Install reg entries from Restore Default Services in Windows 11 Tutorial, double-clicked on them to add them to the registry, restarted, and it finally connected! :) :)
(I did have those services, I mean, they were not missing or deleted, but I guess they were buggy...)

Common solution/trick often tried for non-working wifi ...
Create a Linux boot USB (Mint is a good flavour)
Boot from that USB (do NOT install Mint, it just runs from your computer memory and the USB)
If bluetooth is available, try connect headphones
Note you may need non-bluetooth input devices, I always have a cheapy-cheapy-cheap-cheap cable mouse and cable keyboard at the back of the cupboard anyway.

I do have a Linux boot USB, but the problem is now fixed after reinstalling some services that were present (not missing), but apparently buggy. (See my post just before yours.) I am using my new headphones right now! They work perfectly. :)
