New Google account "Create account" link

To establish a new google email address one can bring up any browser, go to google.com

Click on [Sign in]

then Create account

fill in relevant information…[Next]…verify things (like your phone number)… ya-da, ya-da, ya-da,

How do I get Google to provide me with the Google Sign In window providing the option to Create account?

Go to Google.com and at the top right, click on "Sign In"...

Then, on the "Choose Account" page, click on... "Use Another Account"

Then, on the "Use Another Account" page, click on "Create Account".

Google thinks this method is... efficient.

After giving this time, Google allowed me to 1) establish another email address (in other words, the previous one didn't 'take') and then 2) assign another password...

Unfortunately, it's still stuck on

(I'm surprised it's not allowing me to specify an alternative form of verification.)

Maybe the option was before you got to the phone number page?
IF... there absolutely is no "other" option... then you're gonna need another phone number.

There are many other email sites. Like Yahoo, AOL, Hotmail... etc.

If by this you mean paying a phone provider for a second phone number, that's out of the question.

I understand that, and I appreciate you bringing it up.

I still believe that given time...a few days...a week...two weeks... that Google will somehow allow me to establish an other email account and will allow me to use my phone number as verification to do that. After all, this isn't the only situation where Google will demand two part verification...

Nope, not any more. Google are fixated on gathering as much personal data, now including your personal/private mobile (cell) phone.

Given Microsoft's ersatz pretence at stepped up security with new additional onerous requirements for MS email accounts on 3rd party email clients, I'm wondering which of Microsoft and/or Google is gonna require the user to surrender their firstborn as security

cr4p has gotten totally out of hand (My interpretation of what "F.A" stands for differs greatly from the proponents of this practice

) Absolutely no provisions for users in this situation, and in the vastness of "Down Under", not an uncommon occurrence.

I don’t have a problem with the 2FA issue but they are certainly stubborn with Phone Numbers. I know I got around it (once) I just don’t recall how?

Have absolutely no idea, just guessing, but I suspect this might be a service that is dependent on the telco carrier and their technology.

Given the levels of service here, .... :lmao:

It's a bit hard to send an authentication code along a piece of string between 2 jam tins .....(Damn. Age will out ...)

I have had it work on landline to Australia, like Edwin says, one time recorded voice giving conformation. Long time since though. I have no use for Google. Outlook mail suites me and it loves Windows, obviously. I have over 7 Outlook accounts on my Authenticator app and was never once forced to provide a mobile number when creating an account.
