New Link to Windows app Beta version released for Android - June 22

Today I did an update at my Windows Pro 11 system to version 26200.8655.
After that update suddenly I had an extra link on my desktop, that MS placed there for promotion of the upper facility.

I really don't get it at all why MS is abusing my desktop, which is my personal environment, to post any advertisements there.

Hopefully O&O comes with a block soon for this.
Because in the future I'd like not to have any more of such intrusions in my system.

I updated five total computers to build 26200.8655, I never got any extra desktop icons.

Possibly that's because you did the update in an earlier stage. I updated it just a moment ago.
And it was introduced today...

If we get everything that MS introduces as a link on our desktop, that really is bad.
They call it promotion, I call it a virus!

What does your post have to do with Phone link on Android? (the title of the thread)
Your so called link is probably a description of the Spotlight image.
This is when a screenshot would be helpful as I have never experienced an extra link on any of my desktops either.
By the way, a build is a build and does not change because you 'just' installed it.

I already deleted the link without opening it. Maybe that was somewhat too fast.
Let's wait and see if others have it too (would not surprose me).

Since you have no evidence of such, I 'll take your word for it.
But can I ask this: What would an Android app do exactly on your Windows system?
Not only that but the Beta version for Android can only be obtained by signing into the Phone Link Beta program.

I did not look at it any further, because this was the first time ever MS placed a link on my desktop without asking. It came there right away after the first start after the update. I asked AI about it and it was confirmed MS has done that out of 'promotion'.

BTW. In my whole experience with Windows (since 3.1), I have had many things that I liked less and after some time found a solution for. But I never have complained about it anywhere. I have accepted Windows as is. But placing a link to whatever it may be I consider as a huge intrusion, so when I saw the title of this thread being exactly the same as that of the link I just removed, I had to react!
