I see that the new version of Outlook is available for evaluation and I am wondering if I can be advised if this a good thing to do now or should I just stick with the one I have used for many years. I would be interested to hear views on this topic.
things are in different places but once you get used to it, I like it better. never could get yahoo to work on same outlook mail but it is now no issues like with old outlook mail app. Even though it's getting cold, take a dive try it
You haven’t specified which Outlook you are referring to.
Yes, this is confusing but not because of me:
Outlook (New) which is replacing Mail & Calendar.
Microsoft has already started removing Mail & Calendar from Windows for some people. There is no “Outlook” Windows app anymore, it has been replaced by Outlook (New)
The Outlook (New) Windows App is essentially what you see when logging into Outlook.com online. But wrapped in a Windows App UI.
Outlook (Classic) which belongs to Microsoft 365 or Microsoft Office 2021. Both can present you with a toggle to try the New Outlook, which is different to the Outlook (New) standard app that comes with Windows.
You shouldn’t get the toggle in Outlook (Classic) if you have personal/work or school email accounts. Only if your accounts all belong to Microsoft domains e.x Outlook.com/hotmail.com etc
There is no doubt in my mind that this will change. It won’t matter if you use a Microsoft domain account, a Yahoo/Gmail account or a personal domain mydomainname.com. Microsoft has the intention of passing all of your email through their servers, it just hasn’t happened yet, but it will. I’ll let you determine why they want to do this.
So which Outlook/mail app do you have?
Outlook from Microsoft 365/Outlook from Office 2021/Mail & Calendar app?

I use the version of Outlook that is included in Microsoft 365 Business with the New Outlook GUI. I quite like the new GUI and now the old one now seems rather dated.
