"New Outlook" will only run in Admin mode

I have been constantly offered "try the new outlook"whenever i use Windows 11 Mail app. So I thought I'd try, as I'm going to be forced to eventually.
However, the slider to try it instantly goes back to the left, preventing me upgrading.
However, "New Outlook" is available in the list of apps, so I tried to run it from there. I get "Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have appropriate permissions to access the item."
So much for updating!
However, all works okay in Administrator mode, and I managed to put in all my email addresses and they work fine. But still only in Admin mode.
Rebooted, changed permissions but still no go.
I was going to take a photo of the error message, but I got the same error message trying to open "Snip & Sketch"
Any clues whats going on here?
