I was just triggered the 22h2 install I saw in the windows update. I also set my preview channel to unenroll me at next major update.

After update was done I installed latest version of EP and it worked fine! I also noted that this machine is no longer enrolled in Window Insider which is what I was hoping for.
Great Scott, I am glad you are sorted (y)

Anyone else have problems with the language?
After a while the language of the right click menu changes from Dutch to English.
When I restart the explorer, it's back to Dutch. Few hours later the menu turns back to English.

How might I find what changes are made with each new build of ExplorerPatcher? I'm sure this information is probably on the GitHub site, but I cannot locate a change log. Thanks.

Small issue with using the Windows 10 taskbar style, items are a little laggy and stuttery when moving and being dragged across. Also, would it be possible to have the Windows 11 taskbar bring up the Windows 10 calendar with the events for each date when clicking on the time?

I just wish there was a way to suggest to the developer - perhaps through a donation - to add the ability to use the Windows 11 tabbed explorer on Windows 10. That would be amazing.

Donations have nothing to do with development of the app. I mentioned it a couple of times already, donations are not necessary or required in any way, they are of course appreciated, but are completely voluntary and unsolicited and come with no strings attached - the software is and will always be free (unless anything major changes on my mind), it doesn’t require any monetary contribution in any way: not to unlock features, not to speed up development, not to prioritize a feature, not to fix a bug, as I cannot exchange the money for more hours a day or more/faster acquired knowledge. If I could buy more hours a day using the donations money, the software would probably be shareware, $1 per activation or something like that :)))

This is a hobby project that I work on when I have the time to and mood for etc and by the nature of it, everything is usually a couple of notches more difficult to do than the usual since I hook someone’s code and alter it rather than rolling my own.

The best course of action for this program is not actually to donate, but rather people to start contributing and helping with maintaining it by fixing code, adding in new patches etc. and, as is with many other things, money can’t really help with that. It takes a lot of (mostly boring) time to maintain and I also have to take care of work and other things and projects I am involved in. The outside situation has changed as well, there’s more collaboration and talking and stuff to do at work now that I actually go in person, and yeah, honestly, I don’t put in the amount of time I used to put when development was in its prime. But honestly, that wasn’t sustainable long term - from August last year to late February/early March this year I basically stayed in my house and worked all day (literally) on ExplorerPatcher. I mostly feelI jumped from last summer to this summer, honestly. Yeah, time flew by pretty much, I barely felt the months passing by. The pandemic was a big factor in this, with most stuff being restricted, having night curfews, not being required to go to work in person etc., but it also contributed to some bad habits I accentuated, like a shoveled up sleep schedule, not exercising enough etc.

So yeah, morale of the story - numbers count. Despite all the willingness and goodwill in the world, two such persons do twice the amount of work of one such person. ExplorerPatcher is a fairly large project. For it to be sustainable, really, constant work and maintenance from multiple people is really what is required. Money doesn’t help with that since it’s not enough to make a living for a team off of it (not even for a person), and realistically, even if it were, no one wants to spend their whole life working on this project, since it’s a boring job with most of the academically interesting parts having already looked into. With not much to learn from working on it, there’s little incentive to continue pursuing in its direction, honestly.

Hello Valinet
thank you for those explanations.
I would like to know if your project will stop at version 22000.xxxxx
or do you plan to extend the experience for Beta version 22621.1
I tested your latest version with 22621.1 everything works well except win+X.
I want to thank you for your extraordinary will and talent.
bests regards.

I didn't realize you were monitoring this thread, my apologies. Everything you've said here is understandable.

I can't help but think you'd have better luck finding a developer if you somehow integrated a plea for a developer knowledgeable with C and working with win32 into the software itself. Right now ep_setup.exe patches explorer the moment you launch it, which surprised me because I expected a traditional setup wizard.

You could have it be a setup wizard, but making the first thing someone sees when launching it is that you need a developer or developers to help you maintain the project.

Lastly, this is a bit off-topic, but I have a question that I think only someone as knowledgeable as you might know. I've noticed when working with my C# project that Windows treats differently windows that were minimized via the minimize button in the top right and windows that were minimized by clicking on them on the taskbar. Only when the minimize button was used did getting its tile on the taskbar to flash work correctly. Do you know why this is? I tried examining the window styles for each case, but no differences were detected. It's rather bizarre.

EDIT: Have you thought about getting a hold of the developer of 7+ Taskbar Tweaker? There is some overlap in what your project and his project does, he would have the requisite knowledge to help, and you could potentially combine your two apps together.
