New X-Lite Optimum is out!


That sounds good! So the XLite with Rufus will bypass the need for sse4.2 and popcnts. But the standard Windows 11 burned with Rufus won't - is that right? Because I already tried installing the standard 24H2 burned with rufus in my old netbook and it wasn't having it. But it will install and run 23H2.

Everything I've read says Rufus can't bypass sse4.2 - so is this a very recent thing?

The X-Lite Windows 11 24H2 installer does not attempt to bypass the SSE4.2 requirement. This is ex]lained towards the bottom of this page: Windows X-Lite Optimum 11

Recent CPUs will alrady be using SSE4.2 so it's not an issue for most people. And if not, the CPU is probably too slow to run Windows well.

I had it on a 10” Atom netbook on 21H2. 😊. Full Windows. It was a bit slow obviously but no worse than Windows 20 and usable. The graphics driver wouldn’t work once it got to 23H2 though so I gave up.

Has anyone noticed that on the X-Lite site, they suggest using IObit Driver Booster to download drivers so as not to enable Windows updates?

I had not noticed that, my install of X-Lite was done with the ethernet disconnected and the only driver i installed myself was my video card driver using an NVCleaninstall version and my DAC (NAD M51).
All other drivers were installed by X-Lite.
I've only tried IObit Driver Boster once and was not impressed with it's constant messages trying to get me to purchase other IObit software.
If need be i'd rather enable windows update than user IObit.

Well, if they have it on their instructions, then you are still free to say what you want to. You might not like it but they do. I'm just saying it's their suggestion.
