If you really want a stupid fast, lightweight W11 that can be stablilized, I have yet to see anything faster than the 22H2 2134 version from Ghost Spectre. I probably won't switch to a newer version simply because I really don't like any of the "features" that have been added since, but I think I'm going to give X-Lite a test now that I've figured out how to remove features windows doesn't want removed.. my next target being the "energy recommendations"

The earlier GS installer has the "access violation error when the drive is empty" bug. A very strange bug where you have to run the install option without deleting any partitions, after getting that pop-up error. A very strange bug, because the partitions were created, apparently, and it always throws that error on the first try.

Yes.. I've heard about that, but never encountered it myself, and I've been using the same iso since shortly after it was released. Learning to further debloat windows has been a lot of trial and error, mitigated by the fact it only takes a few minutes to reinstall windows and keep going when all of your important files and apps are on a separate drive.

Some people don't want Microsoft to reinstall unwanted "features" after they've been removed. Drivers are easy to update without using windows update, simply by checking the manufacturer's site on a regular basis. That's one reason I like the corporate laptops from Dell. Better hardware than the consumer products, and the support is excellent.

Just installed 24H2 PRO and I'm impressed. 100 running processes with the same software set that was running 130 processes on Ghost Spectre W11 22H2. Boot time is instantaneous after POST. Startallback wants a key, so that's probably going to have to be deleted. Would recommend including an offline installer for at least one browser, because some WiFi networks can't be accessed without it.

I connect right away without the browser. Don't need a browser to connect to WiFi. X=Lite comes with the Internet access already built in. Just turn it on and connect to it and enter password. THEN download browser (X-lite comes with Edge)

I don't need Microsoft's extra crap. Whenever I installed X-Lite months ago, I done a windows update, and it installed all the default apps. . So, I did the clean install again, and this time, I didn't run Windows Updates, and haven't since.

How dos that work? I was able to connect to the network, but the internet gateway required opening a browser to sign in. When I clicked on "open browser to connect" there was no browser to open, and the included installers all require a download. Obviously this is a one time inconvenience that can be easily avoided in the future.

On the plus side, It was worth the hassle because Ghost Recon Wildlands is now running on ultra settings at native resolution for my laptop.Ghost Recon® Wildlands 8_11_2025 3_18_28 PM.webp

After installing X-Lite, I just use WinGet to install firefox or I put a flash drive in another computer and download the FF installer to the flash drive then run the flash drive on the newly clean installed PC.

NO. It actually does not. However the iso does conveniently include shell apps that have to be connected to internet in order to install a browser. As I suggested, maybe include an OFFLINE installer for at least one browser, because sometimes the only way to finish connecting to the internet from some networks involves opening a browser to sign in. Think anyone who lives on a college campus and uses the university network, for example.
