New X-Lite Optimum is out!


@RazorKat83 Yes there is a X-Lite Optimum 26h1 but as @pseymour mentioned, there is not much in it that hasn't been added to other versions of Win11. I am now back on the latest 25H2 and after skinnying it down to my tastes, rivals 26H1 in performance and functionality.
The only remaining annoyances (for me) are yet to find a reliable way of disabling CrossDeviceResume, SmartScreen and the new Malware Defense services.
If MS wants to become a "walled garden" and treat its subscribers as fish in a barrel like Google and Apple, then they should come out and do it instead of slowly implementing it through "security updates". Why mimic Googles approach?

    I use this computer for photo/video editing and to track severe weather
I have updated from X-Lite Optimum 25H2 to 26H2 without inheriting too much more shitification and no problems so far. It is a bit more resource hungry with the extra "security" or should I say "walled garden" and "data theft" services that are hard to disable.

Devices running version 26H1 will not be able to update to the next annual feature update in the second half of 2026. This is because version 26H1 is based on a different Windows core than versions 24H2, 25H2, and the upcoming feature update.

In-place upgrades are only available if you're going from a lower Windows build to a higher build.
26H1 is 28000
26H2 is 26300

The build number for 26H1 was deliberately picked so someone from 24H2/25H2/26H2 can upgrade to 26H1, but not in the opposite direction. Therefore you need a clean install, or wait for next year's 27H release.

D@mn that's weird but I happened to have been on 25H2 26200.9550 so all I did was to install the enablement package 174kb tiny file to get 26300.9550 but Windows Feature Experience Pack says 1000.26100.372.0 idk if it matters or what it's supposed to be?! I'm on x-lite btw

26* is the same release family. Installing the 25H2 Enablement Package converts 26100 to 25H2. Installing 26H2 EP converts 26100 or 26200 to 26H2.

Windows Feature Experience Pack will always report as 26100 because it's part of earlier feature that's embedded in the 26100 family. This part hasn't really changed since it was introduced back in 24H2. It's basically the look & feel of the current W11 desktop.
