I don't know if there's supposed to be a clock on the taskbar but I would like it back, and to be able to click on it and see the calendar.

Googling all the answers seem to be about showing it on additional monitors. I have 2 monitors but only need it on the main one.

People will probably drop by here with suggestions but if everything fails to help as you are having a few problems then try a nondestructive repair install. Have you tried windows update? There are a few problems that the newest one yesterday is fixing. Here is how to do a repair upgrade without losing your files. Also would you please fill in your computer information in your account so people can help better?

If all else fails, try a windows repair install. That should fix things up for you. Sometimes it really is the only way to get things straightened out and you won't lose anything this way. I know it is a pain.

Download the ISO disk image if you just want to refresh/repair your operating system:

Download Windows 11 Disk Image (ISO): Download Windows 11

Installation instructions (ISO):

  1. If you want to install Windows 11 directly from the ISO file without using a DVD or USB flash drive, you can do so by mounting the ISO file. This will perform an upgrade of your current operating system to Windows 11.
  2. To mount the ISO file:
    • Go to the location where you downloaded the ISO file. Then, right-click the ISO file and select Properties.
    • On the "General" tab, click "Change…" where it says, “Opens with:" and select Windows Explorer for the program you would like to use to open ISO files and select Apply.
    • Right-click the ISO file and select Mount.
    • This will create a “virtual” bootable disc. Double-click on it to view the files within. Double-click setup.exe to start Windows 11 setup.

Just to add, I still have it but it is changed. It shows on the right end of the Taskbar but is shared with Focus Assist instead of like on Win10's Notification Area.

Try right click the taskbar and select taskbar behaviours. Tick the box for 'select the far corner of the taskbar to show the desktop' then tick the box for ' Automatically hide the taskbar' then untick it again to refresh it.
If that doesn't work try a full shutdown ( C:\Windows\System32\shutdown.exe /s /t 05 - in run).
Failing that try the system file checker.
If that fails I would wait for a Cumulative Update if in no hurry.
Last resort would be a repair install.

I have the option to turn the clock on or off on my desktop. When I get home I'll check my other devices.
I can get to the old System icons via 'explorer shell:::{05d7b0f4-2121-4eff-bf6b-ed3f69b894d9}' in run then 'Turn system icons on or off' but it's now totally disabled in Windows 11.

I have found Taskbar Behaviours but 'select the far corner et etc ' isn't there.

Wow you've got the old Windows 10 contex list

EDIT, it looks as you're using a third party app to change Win 11 appearances so SFC will most probably revert all your settings. You'll need to check the software you're using for the clock settings.

I see. I don't use that personalising app so can't help you. Hopefully someone using Classic Shell will offer advice.

Classic shell is the forerunner of open shell, which parts of it do you use? If you just use the start menu you may be able to get the clock back with ExplorerPatcher
