Hi folks
Recently I've had to retire my ancient Toshiba laptop, as it just became too slow to boot and then took forever to actually do anything when it was going - plus the lid was stuck open!
I've now got a nice Medion gaming laptop but it's got Windows 11, so getting used to that after W10. On the whole, it's not too different but a few days ago, my clock disappeared from the taskbar, I think after one of the four updates W11 has applied in the 10 days I've had the machine. I can't get it back! I've gone into settings, "Time & Language", "Date & Time" and there's a setting
Show time and date in the system tray
which is set to "off", but... It's greyed out so I can't switch it to "on". At the top of this settings page, there's a notification
Some of these settings are managed by your organisation
Hmmm. I am the organisation, so not sure why I can't make changes on my own machine - this is the sort of thing I hate about computers!
I've tried making changes in the registry to no avail, resetting the clock app, scanning system files etc but nothing works.
This morning I had the bright idea of installing an alternative clock, and found "Eleven Clock" which initially seemed to be an answer but.... Now the battery icon has gone, and I need that too! I had a further idea of perhaps putting the latter into the overflow, but can't find any way to do this. It's not listed in settings, plus "Taskbar corner overflow" doesn't seem to exist either. With Eleven Clock it seems to be taking the same space on the taskbar, so looks like a choice of one or the other
I'm spending all my time sorting this out (or not sorting it out) so if anyone can help with this, I'd be very happy! Below are screenshots of "Some of these settings are managed by your organisation" (in the same photo, the greyed out "Show time and date" option) plus taskbar with battery icon but no clock, then with clock (Eleven Clock) and no battery icon
