Windows 11 shows no information of my folder icons, Windows 7, 8 and 10 do. What is going on? This is a real deal breaker for me. Anyone got any ideas?

Already reverted back to 10. With the taskbar BS and no folder icons of my CD's they have gone way to far. 10 is far from perfect but 11 is a waste of time.

Hi,
Yeah 11 really is a pitiful excuse.
11 looks almost as bad as 8 did.

Yeah, I'm not impressed!
My lappy's not my work horse, so I'm not too concerned.
I applied UndockingDisabled and installed StartAllBack..., it's tolerable but I'm still not impressed! :cautious:

Same here, ran 11 for two days before going back to 10. Too many work-arounds to make it conveniently usable, numerous explorer crashes when moving files around between drives and my cloud storage. I’ll give it a go again in few months.

Interesting. I didn't even notice the folder picture information not being there.

Obviously it isn't important for how I work. I still prefer W11 and will not be downgrading back to 10.

That goes all the way back to the days of Phonograph!
Some of your favorite albums were often based upon how cool the album cover looked, even if the music was sh*tty!!!

Many portable device music apps have tons of options for album art. It's largely how we identify our favorite tunes!

I went back to 10 after 2 days. I'll wait for all the fixes. My start button just didn't work, everything else seemed OK except for the blank desktop folders - I thought that was just stupid. I'm really puzzled as to the reason for the things the "experts" have left out. They've had ample time to get it right but I guess the pay isn't that good. They updated the Windows File Explorer (slightly) - wouldn't ot be great if in 2021 they could have dual screen file management which was great back in the day from Windows Commander and Multi Commander? :)

After the first week I'm still totally error free on my two computers.
I've never paid any attention to pictures on folders, so to me it just looks cleaner.
I never did like "Live Tiles" either, so I'm happy to be rid of them too.

That's another bug that they haven't bothered fixing yet.
Even my User's Files desktop icon is blank.

I don't need anything fancy, just something other than a yellow, bland folder on the Desktop.

It is irritating but not a dealbreaker for me. I can only imagine it was to speed things up, no need to look inside the folder to generate the pictures. Daft to degrade the user experience for the tiny performance gain.
