no mouse or keyboard

On another PC (Which OP says is available) download the GPARTED iso and with rufus etc make a bootable USB drive.

Now boot this on your wonky / mouseless and keyboardless PC. The Gparted software has all sorts of dynamic hardware detectors in it so it runs on almost any PC in existence. When using Rufus to create the ISO choose DD mode otherwise the USB might not boot.

Then see if any keyboard / mouse functionality present. If so - Windows problem, if Not then hardware problem with broken port or whatever.

I learned a long time ago in any sort of engineering -- when trying to fix something start with the simplest possibilities rather than the "Nuclear option" of re-installing Windows --if it's a genuine hardware problem all a new Windows install will do is present you with the same problem after wasting a huge amount of time depending on your hardware, plus you'd have to re-install apps again and recover user data.

Do get organised with a backup routine and save yourself all this hassle. Hasleo has a good, free program. You'd need an external HDD Ior SSD too.

By reading, looking at his specs and thinking before responding in a constructive manner to the situation at hand, not telling him to do something he already said he couldn't do.. It's an open forum and all ideas have value. , but almost all advice that kept coming in to confuse things was going in a circle and involved using his mouse/KB within windows. As you kept mentioning, He couldn't. Yet that never soaked in as many times as you said it. That's indication that folks don't read everything and or don't think about what they read.

There's ways to contribute ideas to a thread without sending it haywire.. We should all think more before we throw out a suggestion, and we should definitely all read more. If a thread has any flow going, our suggestions should be pertinant to the flow. If the flow stops, we should then throw out other ideas to try as the OP provides more info along the way. I'm as guilty as the next. I'm bad about reading too fast and missing important facts, but I'm working on doing better.

Given the facts of this thread, that left any normal flow of troubleshooting efforts to be outside of windows , logically from either from UEFI bios or recovery. When the thread tured in that direction, folks still telling him stuff he had to use his KB/mouse on in Windows.

He managed to get into safe mode at some point so he had to have some level of input to do that.

He said his issue started while installing drivers. He would have to know exactly what ones he updated to uninstall using DISM offline.
He's using a PC. not a laptop yet he was asked about his touchpad.
Then he was given AI responses when it was evident AI went off the rails giving answers that involved using a mouse/KB ...yep, you guessed it...IN WINDOWS.

I don't think what you hope for will ever happen! Once a thread has reached two pages, many will jump in without reading post one. I wish it weren't so.

You do not need DVD's to burn the Windows Installer to. You can use a USB Flash drive of 8GB capacity or more. You can get these online, or at any place that sells electronics. Or use one you already have.

The info we are getting is incomplete, confusing, and going in circlles.

If you are attempting to boot from a usb drive to clean install windows, Are you saying you are able to get to the boot menu using your KB now? If so, do you see your USB drive as a bootable device or you don't see it? If you do see it in the boot menu, When you select it, what happened? Did the clean install start at all? Did it fail?
You have to help us out here.

We want to help, but we cannot see what you see or don't see. You have to tell us exactly or provide photos taken with your phone for us to see it ourselves..

When Windows is running one can use use shift key > restart to get to the recovery screen. Won't help here but I just wanted to let others know they can easily access the recovery menu when restarting the computer.

when I press F12 I can access a boot up menu and the usb device is listed along with dvd drive. bios setup UEFI boot. onboard NIC. windows boot manager, diagnostics. Ican still boot up windows from here but still has no keyboard and mouse and the tab also does not work

When are you going to try using the Widows ISO to do a repair install???

If you're meaning a USB Wi-Fi mouse and keyboard, It's worth a try. Out of curiosity and to help us understand how this happened, I have to ask. Where you updating your drivers using a driver update program?

I'll continue to try and help but would appreciate it if you engaged a little more. You do need to at least match our efforts.

So, what happened?

the pc just died so i rebooted and discovered no keyboard etc but windows booted with no key or mouse and there was no way of installing mouse or keyboard

As you now know; these programs can be dangerous. I have used them in the past to check for updated drivers. If Any where found I would go to the OEM sites to see if they had them available. If not my drivers didn't get updated.

I actually read the entire thread before putting my input if it warrants one since others would have said what I was thinking about saying already.

Can you access the iso on your Ventoy?

I can access the iso on my other pc

Can you boot into the BIOS on the problem PC?
