I am having a strange issue win Windows 11 Professional x64 21H2 22000.282. I am not getting any microphone sound input in any apps including Voice Recorder as it is completely silent.

Sound is detected when testing:

Anyone have any pointers on what else to check?

Thanks in advance!

Silly question, but have you checked if there is an updated driver for it?

It is not the driver as it worked before with the same driver. Remember if it was the driver, then it would also not detect the sound when testing it.

Does the mIc have its own software, such as my Headset and iCUE ?
No it doesn't as this is the mics built into the Dell XPS 15 9570 Notebook so it's only using Realtek UDA drivers and nothing else.

Well, you and I both have it with the button showing "Don't allow". It is supposed to show the opposite because it's already allowed so clicking the button will "Not allow" it while if the button "Allow", that means it is "Not Allow"
I tried it so the button says "Allow" and it is exactly what I said, the testing no longer detects anything.

Yes. Clicking 'don't allow' then it disallows it and the tab will show 'Allow'. So it's not that then. :(

From there you might check under the recording tab which is your default device and which one is your default communications device. Try to set both to the mic you are using (right click) and try the recorder again

Have you double checked you output/input devices?

Check to see the device you want to use the mic on is listed (chosen) in the "Input device". Also check the "Output device" to insure the sound is routed to your speaker/headphone device.

.
Not sure if it helps, but type into run or a cmd "mmsys.cpl"
From there you might check under the recording tab which is your default device and which one is your default communications device. Try to set both to the mic you are using (right click) and try the recorder again
Did that too after completely uninstalling the drivers and then using DriverStoreExplorer to delete all things Realtek related to audio before installing the drivers again but this time, even the test did not work. I got to the same thing you mentioned by using Control Panel first and then enabled Internal AUX Jack and Stereo Mix and I noticed the green bars were moving. I didn't have to set the default because it seems both were already pointing at it as the arrow at the bottom was greyed out when the Mic is selected. Ofourse the Mic test worked and I always had the Alexa app running so I enabled keyword and closed the Alexa app and then opened the Alexa app and it's detecting me saying Alexa and ofcourse Voice Recorder works as the circle while recording also gets bigger when I talk and playback did record what I said. My only question is how do I figure out what the correct volume level for the mic should be?

Update:
I spoke too soon, it seems like as soon as I finished posting this comment... It stopped working and the only way I got it working again was first disable the Mic under recording and then enabling it again by right clicking on it.

The above trick does not always work because it did it after I wrote the above and I got it to work once but the second time, I could not get it to work again.

Have you double checked you output/input devices?

Check to see the device you want to use the mic on is listed (chosen) in the "Input device". Also check the "Output device" to insure the sound is routed to your speaker/headphone device.
Yes, I already did that one. I did fix it, see the right above your quoted message.
