Microsoft Copilot is almost universally disliked due to its forced integration across Windows and Office, which many users find intrusive, distracting, and a disruption to established workflows.

Copilot is heavily forced into the toolbar, right-click menus, and as a permanent, hard-to-remove icon in Windows 11, disrupting user experience.

Users frequently report generic, inaccurate, or redundant responses, often requiring more time to edit than to write from scratch. Frequent updates constantly change how Copilot works, creating inconsistency and frustrating users who want a stable, predictable environment. It frequently and frustratingly suffers from, or takes a long time for, complex tasks. Serious concerns exist regarding the potential exposure of sensitive documents due to misconfigured SharePoint or OneDrive permissions.

Users report that Copilot can act stubborn, refusing to acknowledge valid user approaches to problems.

Overall, the sentiment is that Copilot is often seen as an unnecessary, premature addition that prioritizes marketing hype over user-centric design.

Now there is NoPilot.

NoPilot mostly hides CoPilot as complete removal is no longer possible. Some visible parts are removed, others are blocked or disabled by NoPilot.

Instructions:

• Download the batchfile to your Desktop
• Run as an Administrator (Right-click > 'Run as admin')

Be careful of these types of tools, people.

i have removed everything poopilot and stopped it reinstalling
but i have removed all the 'new' Windows apps and replaced them all with legacy apps
notepad, media player, paint, calculator and use Jarte as a wordpad replacement for my RTF files.
(all my notes are in RTF format as RTF goes across all systems)

the more Microsoft push the less Microsoft i will have

I can share one little example:
I assist in preparing livestream presentations for a number of churches, in which I often copy text from ancient manuscripts, mostly in PowerPoint.
I can assure you, Auto-correct, Grammar-correct and Copilot don't have a clue what to do with that!!!
It got so perpetually annoying that I had to ditch all the AI and Online Connected Experiences stuff!

One can uninstall co-pilot.

I got rid of Copilot in MS Office apps thanks to AskLeo. Ask Leo

I don't use third party apps if I find what I need in Brink's tutorials. I didn't want copilot everywhere and If I want to use it, I do it from it's webpage. However, I didn't want to uninstall co-pilot completely because I suspected it might come back. Now the only place I see it is in my all-apps list. I combined all the regedit files together so now all I have to do is use one.

Here's the ones I remember, but there are more which can be found by using the search in tutorial section.

I tend to agree. What other icons do we ignore to no harm on a daily basis until they are needed? Probably very many.

So what other OS's are also building AI Frameworks? MacOS? I doubt many people would switch from Windows to Mac just to get the AI framework. Linux? which distro? Same point as before, only more so.

That all said, I have never liked any part of CoPilot. Ugh. Just extra clicks to turn it off every time I start Word or Excel.

When I read these threads on this forum and I realize that Copilot doesn't bother me at all I feel like there's something wrong with me.

I didn't write any of this its all from the author.
However I do hate Copilot and AI being shoved down our throats from Microsoft.
But everyone has their opinion.
I came across this and I was just giving people an option if they wanted to disable it.

I'm running Office 2021 - it doesn't integrate with Copilot (at least as far as I can see) like Office 365 probably does.

Yeah, you're right. I just ditched 365 and went back to O2021. Peace and Quiet now!
