Norton 360 for Gamers won't uninstall

Upon clicking "show hidden icons" in the lower left corner of the screen, I discovered Norton 360 for Gamers was running. I didn't install it--I don't know where it came from, and I can't get rid of it. It is NOT listed in installed APPs. Revo uninstall spent a considerable time uninstalling and required a reboot to finish the procedure. Following the reboot, Task Manager showed it running in the background. It is listed in Startup Programs, but it couldn't be changed to "disable." Searching online yielded one simple solution; download Norton Uninstall Tool. Well, all that does is open the Installed APPS window. Useless.

It no longer appears in Revo Uninstall. Revo Forced Install found it, and I went through the same procedure including a reboot. It was still running in the background in Task Manager - none of the running programs responded to an "end" command. I was able to open the program from the "show hidden icons" and this allowed me to turn off all the options. Going to Settings and Privacy Security, it was listed, as "snoozed." It seems to be an antivirus program more than a Gaming program. I returned to Task Manager and was able to "Disable" it in the Start Programs section.

Following yet another Reboot, Task Manager still showed it as Disabled in the Start Up Programs list. However, all 6 of its components were still present in Task Manager and still refused to "end." It has a folder in C:\Program Files named Norton with 2 Subfolders. Nothing within these folders can be deleted. I tried all of this in Safe Mode with the same results.

I opened every tab in the Norton 360 for Gamers control panel, and there is no way to uninstall it or make it go away. There is no "Help" section and the only way to send feedback is anonymously.

Thanks, but I don't think that will work. When it *was* installed, it couldn't be removed - even by Revo Uninstaller - so I don't want to risk it taking over again. Right now, it's passive. I'm going to wait a while on the chance that someone will know what to do. If no one can help, I suppose I'll have to take the chance.

Major Geeks site to the rescue!

The Norton Removal Tool was available on MG. It was the same one I dl'd from the Norton site, but I thought I might as well try it. It took quite a while, but unlike the Norton sites tool this one actually removed the program...

You must reinstall before you can uninstall.

It’s the same utility, you either downloaded the wrong one or didn’t follow the process properly.
