Hi, when trying to remove properties from either a singular or bulk files on my pc i get the following error message - Not all personal properties were cleared. Windows was unable to remove properties from the selected files. before sharing these files you should review them for unwatned personal information.

I never had this issue on windows 10 but on windows 11 i cant remove properties.

I don't have an answer how to fix your problem. I know that others in the Microsoft forum and several in the feedback hub (but not very many) are reporting the same issue. It probably would not be reported as widespread because most people do not remove the properties from their files. I tested and was able to remove all personal properties on photos both at the single file and multiple file level on my computer.
The only suggestion I know to try:
1. Make sure you have no corrupt system files that is causing this problem. Open a command prompt as administrator and type sfc /scannow
Pay attention to the scan results to see if SFC found anything it could not repair. If it found corruption it could not fix followup with this command (note the spaces)
dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
Restart computer

2. If step 1 doesn't work, Repair Install Windows 11 Repair Install Windows 11 with an In-place Upgrade Tutorial

What types of files are those?
DRM material can't be cleared/modified for obvious reason.

This issue has been around since Windows 7, was supposedly fixed in Windows 8, and is clearly back again. I am having this problem today in 2025 on Windows 11 Pro 24H2 with a picture I originally took, downloaded from Google Photos. No DRM. I have full control over the file. Fortunately there's nothing in the file that is revealing of personal info, but you would think as long as this bug has been around, Windows could recover from it gracefully by now. I've never even seen a suggestion for how to fix it--sfc /scannow reports no issues with Windows.
