Why not use a homeplug if wifi is not good enough?

They (Plusnet) have a minimum speed top the house of 31mbps and that is exceeded at the router. Its jusy 9mbps at one wired PC. A second wired PC is also connected via ethernet and that goes over the roof. That gets similar 35mbps speeds. This second ethernet cable was done 5 years ago and the suspect one 2 years ago.

The ISP that he's with offer a minimum speed guarantee with a full mesh system, if you don't get that speed they send you further mesh discs until you do or they will start refunding you

We are with Plusnet. All BT (via Plusnet) is responsible for is from their cabinet to your main socket. After that you are on your own. 2 ethernets cables go from the main socket outside the house round to the far side and back through the wall to a socket. One done 5 yerars ago, one 2 years ago, the suspect one was the most recent.

I used homeplug adapters previously but as they kept disconnecting this is why I went for Ethernet cables.

Clearly the problem is with one of the two sockets or the cable itself. Magnetic interference may also be a problem if the ethernet cables is not shielded.

Personally, I would just upgrade to WiFi.

Then let me rephrase it. Personally, I would upgrade the WiFi that is already there. However, clearly you slow speeds on the one cable is due to a bad connection at the outlets, or in the cable itself.

I have a 4000 sqft house (372 sq. meters) with WiFi coverage throughout the house and most of the outside property.

I use a WiFi extender to increase the WiFi signal to my shed (Man cave). The shed is about 10 - 15 feet from the extender.

I use a wifi extender to reach to my shed 80 ft down the garden.

The life of RG6, RG9 and RG58 is max at 11years it will start to degrade long before that, having said that my amateur radio coax ran from inside to the tower outside and was good from 1993 until I took it down last month.
I live in a 5 bed bungalow, no cellar and wifi covers the whole place except one bedroom I do use an extender/booster

I just realized after I liked your post that it was your post that said your WiFi signal is weak when outside of the room the router is in. The extender only works on devices 80' from the house?
