Windows 11
Hello,

I recently got a new laptop with Windows 11 installed and I want to give the new notepad app a chance as it looks like a nice upgrade from the old version. The issue I keep running into is that when I minimize the notepad window and then click on it again to expand the window, it's scrolled all the way to the top of the document.

I have seen people post a similar issue on several forums but they have not been able to find a solution to this issue so I figure I would post on here to see if I could get some advice. How do I make it to when the notepad is minimized and then re-expanded, it keeps the document in the same position that it was on, instead of having the document scrolled all the way to the top? Thanks!

Welcome to the forum. My notepad doesn't exhibit that behavior. If I minimize an open text doc, when maximized the cursor is where I left it.
Perform a clean boot to eliminate software conflict causing the issue. If it doesn't happen in a clean boot, you have some software conflicting with Windows. Brink's procedure will help you weed out which one. Perform a Clean Boot in Windows 11 to Troubleshoot Software Conflicts Tutorial

If it still happens in clean boot, try resetting and/or repairing notepad.
settings>apps>installed apps
Find notepad in the list and click three dots. Select advanced options. First try a repair. Restart.
If still happening reset notepad.

Hello glasskuter,

Thank you for your quick response. I tried to restart and repair with no luck but I saw the option to uninstall so I tried that, got the app off the Microsoft store after and re-installed it and it's working properly now.

Thanks for letting me know that this was not the way it's supposed to work because I didn't know. Wish you a wonderful day!
