SuperAntiSpyware notifications would not turn on. I tried more than once to turn them on, but the black dot would move to the right, turn white, and immediately move back to the left as a black dot. I reported, this to TechSmith, they asked for further information, then for a screen shot. I replied to the last request that there was no need to do so.

Why did I do that? When I got home a while ago, I woke the computer, logged, checked for new notifications. There was one, an Update for Super! What mysterious force changed the ability to turn on Super's notifications and turned them on with no personal intervention on my part?

I finally realized that I had not stated that the notifications are for database updates; program updates are handled very differently.

I have seen more than one fire known to have been extinguished, continue to burn, I have known more than one student claim to have done something that was not done; these I understand, if only partially.

What I assuredly do not understand is why the SuperAntiSpyware notifications, which started working yesterday without my doing anything of which I am aware, and which were working earlier today, now will not work.

Screenshots of the settings panel would probably help - unless another fellow SAS user comes along and can answer it. I don't use it, and I suspect most here do not either.

TechSmith asked for a screen shot, which I sent to them. It is quite uninformative, but it is all that Windows provides. The image shows that SuperAntiSpyware is off, and when I try to turn it on, it does not do that.

To add to the continuing mystery, Super's notifications have turned back on automatically and I received one a short while ago.

After updating Windows 11 this morning, I checked the notifications for Super; they were off and could not be turned off. A few hours later, they had been turned on. This seems to be a pattern; what causes it I don't, of course, know.

The mystery continues: This morning, when I determined that the notifications had not worked for at least thirty-six hours, I completely removed SuperAntiSpware, using AShampoo Uninstaller 10, including the Registry and all Super files. I downloaded and installed a new copy; after three and one-half hours, notifications could not be turned on.

Two and one-half hours later, I woke the computer, to find that Super notifications now worked. In the past, when they stopped worked, they would return in as short as perhaps thirty minutes, but an hour or so might have been the longest time gap. What could have been going on for such a long time, why did whatever it was that was blocking the notifications stop?

Oh, goodie, at last a clue....

Is this anything that I could investigate, or is it rather something that I should pass on to the company (not that they've shown much interest in figuring out why the notifications are acting so oddly.

You might try to fully disable Defender (maybe with network disconnected, just to be safe), and then check if the erratic behaviour of your app still persists.

Not likely the problem; rather, it is Windows 11, as SuperAntiSpyware never had any such problem with Windows 10, I've not added any such programs with Windows 11, and Super is not really an antivirus, as its website makes quite clear.

In the realm of Windows 11, a short while ago I sent yet another tech support request to Super, somewhat in the vein of a diatribe, partially to point out that I am not getting any responses from them, and partially to point out that now, with Super's notifications turned on and which started working yesterday, have stopped working, a new low. At least in the past, if the notifications could not be turned on, and then did so somehow, they kept working.

Database update installed eight minutes ago, which I only know as I opened Super to see if there had been any further updates without any notifications; aggravatingly, there had been.

From the program's web site:

"
Is SUPERAntiSpyware an antivirus program?

Strictly speaking, SUPERAntiSpyware is not designed to be antivirus software. We target spyware, adware, worms, trojan horses, rootkits, and crimeware, a focus that allows us to respond quickly to the ever-growing groups of hostile software we address, with new definitions released multiple times a day, and concentrate on the technology that targets the most common threats in the wild. There are a lot of things that are often called viruses (many trojans, worms, and so on) that SUPERAntiSpyware will remove, but it won't remove many true viruses or boot-sector viruses.

SUPERAntiSpyware has been designed to be compatible with popular antivirus and antispyware applications such as McAfee, Symantec Norton, Kaspersky, Bitdefender, ESET NOD32, Spybot Search & Destroy, Hitman Pro, Ad-Aware, AVG, Avast, Panda, Webroot, Malwarebytes, Avira, and more.

Antivirus is a kind of software used to prevent, scan, detect and delete viruses from a computer. Once installed, most antivirus software runs automatically in the background to provide real-time protection against virus attacks.
Check the Malware Removal sites !! It falls under an antivirus program for removal & spyware, ransomeware detect & removal !! I'm done here !!

First, SuperAntiSpyware notifications started again late yesterday, and continued a few minutes ago.

Second, to set the record straight, I have been using Super for at least five and one-half years, possibly one or two years longer, with very few problems. The only ones I recall were a few times when a subscription reminder was either months too early or a week or two too late.

Until late afternoon 5Oct2021, Super was running correctly. The only change was that I replaced Windows 10 with Windows 11 around 1600 local. I did not install any new programs, remove any old ones, nor change any settings in any programs. It took me a day or two to realize that I was not getting any notifications from Super; as Windows 11 was new to me, it took me a short while to find the Notifications module. I recall that Super's were off; I think I may have been able to turn them on.

I have determined that the only part of Super that is not working is the notifications; updates continue, the daily scan continues, and I have briefly tested other parts to see if they are working. My conclusion is that logically the problem lies with Super, which needs to be updated to properly handle Windows 11 notifications.

I continue to wait for the expected replies from the company, which have so far not been forthcoming. Meanwhile, I shall let the program run, and when notifications stop again, an expected event, shall check the program to see if I am getting updates.
