I have messages in the Google Messaging app on my Android and Phone Link app on my Laptop.
I know the senders name but it only shows as seven numbers.
Can it be changed to their name?

per AI:
Google Messages only shows a name if the number matches a contact. If the sender’s number is not saved in the phone’s Contacts app exactly as it appears in the message, Google Messages will show the raw number.

If the sender is showing up as a 7‑digit number, that usually means it’s a short code, not a normal mobile number. Short codes are used by automated systems (banks, delivery services, verification codes, etc.), and Android doesn’t allow you to assign a contact name to them.

Because Phone Link simply mirrors whatever Google Messages displays, it will also show the number instead of a name.

If it’s a real person with a standard phone number:
Save the number exactly as it appears in your Contacts app, and both Google Messages and Phone Link will show the name.

If it’s a 7‑digit short code:
There’s no way to change it to a name — Android treats those as system senders.

I know the senders name but it only shows as seven numbers.
If the 7 numbers is their phone number, just tap on the message, tap again at the top and you'll see the option to "Add Contact", where you can enter names etc.

I had the main contact numbers for both messages, now I have added the seven numbers, I get the name on both phone and laptop.
THANKS VERY MUCH.
P.S. Sorry for my late reply.
