Hi All,
I have a friend who is having a issue with the numlock key. It is shutting off and on randomly while using the keypad typing or just when idle. When the light goes out it may type a symbol or just move the cursor to another position on the page that is being typed on. Sometimes he has to press the numlock key to turn it back on or it will just turn off and back on automatically. I have googled and done almost everything I could think of besides checking the bios numlock state if his MB suppports it. I will do that after work hours today. The mouse keys are disabled, the power state is off. I changed the registry key to the number 2. I have removed all Logitech software which was a supposed to be one possibility. I changed the keyboard to a Microsoft one and same thing is happening so it is not the keyboard. Changed the mouse also.
Does anyone here have any idea what the issue is? I am open to all suggestions I don't have much hair left on my head at this point lol.

Cheers

Been an issue with windows for a long time. Create this batch file and create a scheduled task to run it at whatever interval you want

Code:
@echo off

POWERSHELL [CONSOLE]::NumberLock | FIND /I "FALSE">NUL&&POWERSHELL ($WSH = New-Object -ComObject WScript.Shell)-AND($WSH.SendKeys('{NUMLOCK}'))>NUL

I think that you might well have muck underneath your keyboard keys or a damaged keyboard cable and that the NumLock issue is merely another symptom of that.
Try disconnecting the keyboard then waiting to see if the symptoms still happen.

@Try3 I tried 2 other keyboards. what are the chances all 3 are dirty. One of the Microsoft keyboards I have been using on a daily basis myself and never have that issue. All 3 keyboards are very clean. Thanks for the tip though.
