Solved OneDrive disable

I hate One drive.
Every time you have a new update Windows reinstalls it.
I Have hours of artwork that I do not want to be uploaded to one drive (i lost 18 months of work not long ago, Now I have built my own NAS server), But sometimes I just want to dump a painter file onto my Desktop for a quick cast to my Large 4k tv screen for reviewing, if I forget to uninstall One drive it disappears into the Cloud.
It would be great if Microsoft would Include a switch to prevent the reinstall on future upgrades with the option to have it for those who want it.

If you uninstall OneDrive it will not be reinstalled.

To uninstall it, open up the Settings --> Apps --> Apps & features.

Just turn off switch to start Onedrive on startup?

Uninstalling it has always worked for me.

Eventually, after updating somewhere along the line One drive reappears even when I have uninstalled it.
As I have uninstalled it, it`s no longer in policy manager but will try this option when and if it reappears again.

FWIW,, all I've done is to go into the control panel and then into programs and features. Then I simply delete/remove one drive. All done.. never shows up again.

Just get rid of it it's a pain and they sneak in a subscription fee, I was paying £1.99/month without realizing it for years.

I do not want an o/s taking files (important Docs, Pics desktop files, etc of my system( without me inadvertently Knowing)).
Real helpful info YES Log reports etc.
I understand the concept of one drive. But it's not there yet.
What if I dropped Dead tomorrow and my Family needs to access my important Files?.
Back up on your own Media or go back to paper and a filing cabinet.
I am not criticizing One drive I just do not want it automatically Being there it should be an obvious option.
Ps, all pc users don't spend their days inspecting all Variables of the settings within an Os.
I think this is an important debate.
Q:"Where has that gone" Answr:"dun know probably in the cloud".

Where has that gone"dun know probably in the could".

I backup EVERYTHING to OneDrive, I wouldn't be without it now. I make local backups too just in case.

Not everyone Has their own Nas backup and one drive is an option.
What I am objecting to is; Awareness to all Microsoft or Any Operating system users as to what the Cloud does with your files.
And " AND there is an AND" how much are you paying In $ OR £ or Spondulies without being aware?.
If you have read any of my past threads; I lost months of artwork that I can not get back, And money I did not realize I was subscribed to paying.
Microsoft is a leading software company, should they be Pinching pennies from ignorant users (including myself) and where are the files I lost?.

Hi,
I really don't have time to look through your prior threads
You've been offered solutions for this issue with onedrive, only question left is will you accept and use them.

I don't use a microsoft account as login for win-10 or 11 so it's easy not to be "forced" into onedrive just by simple use of one on my machine

I do have a outlook.com email and I do have files on onedrive for that account but I use both via a web browser firefox to be exact.

I pay for Office 365, paid for a whole year and share it with family.

Since you have Win 11 pro go to gpedit.msc
admin templates > windows components > onedrive
enable prevent the usage of onedrive for file storage
disable everything else
admin cmd type gpupdate /force or reboot
this will disable onedrive completely and can be easily reversed
I have done this on Win 10 & 11
