OneDrive Error - GfxCPLBatchFiles

I recently received a Dell Latitude 5520 and updated the Windows and Dell drivers. I am running as an administrator. After completing the updates, I checked OneDrive in the taskbar, and it shows: "No access permissions to item/s".

When I click on the cloud icon in the taskbar, I receive the following message:

GfxCPLBatchFiles No access permissions to the item. It appears that you do not have access permissions to the item. Ensure that you have the right permissions to allow the item to sync.

This error message started appearing after I updated the Intel display drivers. Searching for "GFX" reveals numerous Intel files. I do not know where the access permissions are granted for these files or how to remedy this error message.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thank you.

This is a Co-Pilot response.

It looks like OneDrive is trying to sync a folder that was created by the Intel graphics driver installer, not a user file. The key clue is the name GfxCPLBatchFiles, which comes directly from the Intel Graphics Control Panel / Intel Graphics Command Center package. You mentioned the issue began immediately after updating the Intel display drivers , which lines up with this.

Intel’s driver installers sometimes drop temporary working folders inside user‑profile locations. If any of those locations are inside OneDrive’s sync scope, OneDrive will attempt to sync them — but Intel protects those folders with restrictive ACLs. That’s why OneDrive reports:

  • “No access permissions to item/s”
  • “You do not have access permissions to the item”
  • “Ensure that you have the right permissions to allow the item to sync”
This isn’t a Windows permissions problem on your account (you’re already running as admin) — it’s simply OneDrive trying to sync a system folder that it shouldn’t be syncing.

How to fix it

1. Locate the folder OneDrive is complaining about Search your profile for:
GfxCPLBatchFiles

If it’s inside any of these:
  • OneDrive\Documents
  • OneDrive\Desktop
  • OneDrive root
  • Any redirected folder under OneDrive
…then OneDrive is mistakenly trying to sync it.

2. Move or remove the folder If the folder is clearly a leftover Intel driver temp folder, you can safely:
  • Move it to a non‑synced location (e.g., C:\Intel\), or
  • Delete it if it’s obviously just installer debris.
Intel’s driver packages often leave behind harmless temp folders.

3. Adjust OneDrive’s sync scope (optional) If you don’t want OneDrive syncing system‑created folders in the future:

OneDrive Settings → Sync and backup → Manage backup orSettings → Account → Choose folders

Uncheck the folder containing the Intel driver files.

4. Reset OneDrive if the warning persists

%localappdata%\Microsoft\OneDrive\onedrive.exe /reset
This forces OneDrive to rebuild its file list.

Thank you for the feedback. I ended doing the OneDrive Settings ... Account ... Choose folders.

I eventually found the Intel drivers folder and deselected it. It was in the Desktop folder.

All was fine until I did a laptop shutdown and restart. The error returned. I opted to delete the OneDrive Desktop folder and immediately the error went away. OneDrive - Personal ... Up to date.
