OneDrive will not start?

If this is a fresh OS install, suggest you reinstall and leave OneDrive as is being you're going to be using it anyway :-)
True that - however this will require a new OS ISO and definitely more bench work.

Won't install Win 11 as is out of the box - and really need to know why this is not working - it's almost surreal.

Have never seen an MS app that has been around for years on a MS OS simply not start at all. I mean if I had a error dialog or a log or something to tell me what is going on here - it is bizarre.

Oh - I would do that - if I had a OneDrive icon. But I do not.

That is the reason for this post.
Yeah well, please open OneDrive app then from start menu :-)

Then you can access settings and set startup option to start OneDrive on startup.

While there most certainly is an icon on the Start Menu - I click it and nothing.

Just tested a manual install on a recent Windows 10 ENT 22H2 ISO where OneDrive was removed and also - nothing.

Perfect install - but no action whatsoever.

This is the most bizarre thing I have ever seen from MS. Not even an error message or anything in Event viewer. It's wild.

NTLite is automatically enabling DisableFileSyncNGSC=1 (because you removed OneDrive).

Code:
reg delete HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\OneDrive /v DisableFileSyncNGSC /f
OneDriveSetup /allusers
Open OneDrive from All Apps.

Holy crap - solved.

Navigate to the following path

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\OneDrive

From the Left-hand side click on the OneDrive Registry key and check the DisableFileSyncNGSC key.

Change from 1 to 0

Bob's your uncle.

WTF is the point of that key might I ask?

Damn.

Why not allow Windows to do its normal job?
Because what Microsoft/Windows thinks is "normal" is far from what many users want. An unfettered Windows could be an abomination, thank goodness for 3rd party software and helpful forums like this one

Just a suggestion.

FWIW, I'd look at how much more time is taken just to "figure things out" vs just re-installing the OS and other packages.

At the end of the day, you're in the best position to know how much work any given task takes.

Have never seen an MS app that has been around for years on a MS OS simply not start at all.
You're doing something totally against Microsoft's design and you wonder why you have issues?

My usual treatment of OneDrive is to strip the version that ships and automatically installs with a WIndows ISO and I always install the latest package manually after the OS is up.
I don't see this as useful. And the installed app will be updated during the Windows/Office Update process. No reason for it.

I've never ever manually updated my OneDrive app and have not had any issues not doing it.
