Solved Online Service Experience Pack install question
The Experience Pack showed up in my pending Updates. I installed it and I don't know if what happened makes any sense.
Showed up in Settings/Windows Update on my 22H2 desktop build 22621,2715 on Dec 2, 2023.
Experience Pack was shown in Windows Update as version 3.1.0.804
Included the newest Defender update along with the Experience Pack.
Experience Pack did not show up in WUMGR but the Defender update did.
Installed both using Settings/Windows Update.
Installed in the time it took to refresh the Windows Update screen [literally a 'blink'], restarted.
No change to System Components list. I couldn’t see any obvious changes on other Settings screens.
I don’t recognize the Settings/System/Storage/Advanced storage settings pull down list of six categories. Maybe no change but I don’t recognize it.
Doesn’t show anything unusual in WUMGR but does show the Defender update on Dec 3. [odd since it is Dec 2 on my machine]
I’m sort of scratching my head on what happened.
Now that I've got it [maybe?], what do I do with it? What is the benefit?

I'm not an Insider and try to not do Previews of anything. I'm trying to delay 22H3. This Experience Pack has not shown up on my wife's desktop which I keep slightly behind mine but on the same track.

Turns out I already had a previous version, 1.1.268.92, installed on 11/03/22. I don't know what that one did for me either. I double checked and Settings/Windows Update/Update History/Other updates shows the new install as version 3.1.0.804.

Update: My wife's desktop, Win11 22H2, build 22621.2715, has just been offered the Online Service Experience Pack Version 3.1.0.804 via WU. Nothing in WUMGR for the Experience Pack. I'll install it and see if the behavior is different.

I would mark this as resolved but the only option at the top of this thread is to Mark it as Unresolved. My conclusion about Feature Packs in general is that they are unmanaged categorized channels for MS to make changes to our systems as they see fit. I can't find any way to pause the changes to evaluate whether I want them installed. WUMGR doesn't see them. I see Feature Packs show up in WU but with no controls or real details.
