Looks like you have something messing with your tooltip delay, bringing it down to obnoxious levels. This is standard Windows 11:

Yeah...should first of all have a delay and secondly NOT pop up exactly in the way of the text/pic you're pointing at.

Just did a very short test with the new notepad app.
It opened a concept text, that I had typed a few month ago.
Still was in the memory of the notepad, but the file itself I never wrote to my system.
I should have closed the tab explicitely before closing the app, but did not know this could happen.

It seems not to be possible to avoid this (unless I do care very much about closing tabs separately) or do a setting the app will not remember the tab.

And already that fact is enough for me not to use the modern notepad app! Because now and then I open a notebook and note a password I need to open more than one file temporarerly and copy that password into scratch. I want the text in the notepad to be gone as soon as when I close the app or at least after restarting the computer. And not that I would find out month later that the password still is written in one of the tabs of the notebook app...

Yes, but, I set it back to default, made no difference.

Well whatever you’ve done, Windows 11 and UWP apps don’t tooltip as fast as that on their own.

Oops, my bad! I reset the proper setting this time. All good...,
However, Mouse Hover Tips should not pop up upwards, or follow your Mouse travel and get in the way! No other applications do that!

That's a matter of preference, I suppose. Tooltips in XAML apps can appear in five different positions.

I rarely use Notepad. I use OneNote for all my notes. I've got a couple of decades of notes in OneNote, all fully searchable and categorized. Anyone else a OneNote user?

Nope, @TraderGary. I have to admit, my trouble with apps like that is a putting all your eggs in one basket thing, or maybe a few baskets. I guess you've never had corruption or anything?

I actually really like the tabs. Main reason is because I’m getting really forgetful.

When you want to create a note, call on me and I will rush to you with Gods speed, bend over… and let you scribe a note on my back of which I shall take to a secure location by way of camel, a chest buried in the Sahara desert (or a local park playground sandpit if it’s more convenient for you) for it’s protection.

I can truthfully say that I've never lost any data. I've kept all my data and photos in OneDrive for more than 15 years as a key part of my backup strategy. My strategy also includes making nightly Macrium Reflect images on two Samsung T9 4TB Portable SSD drives, each rotating 7 images. In 15 years, cloud OneDrive has never lost or changed a single byte of my data or photos. My eggs are definitely not in one basket, they are in several baskets, and at all times my baskets are both local and offsite.

allow me to ask you this, if you will:
If you have a folder of items, and, in that folder, you'd like to have a text based file of some sort included in that folder , describing the contents of the folder, or, a directory list, etc...,
how would you accomplish that using OneNote?

I have OneNote but have never used it. It seems too complicated for me. I use Notepad for simple notes and Word for more complicated ones.

The protection for corruption would be versioning. OneNote is kept in cloud OneDrive which has complete file versioning going back 30 days. OneNote is also kept in the MR C: drive images I make nightly and are kept in a 7 day rotation cycle. I also keep another 4TB SSD which holds image versions going back several months. If there were to be a corruption problem with OneNote, I'm confident I could recover from it.

If I'm understanding your question, I think you're asking how I would find a note or notes about a given subject, given that my OneNote goes back a couple of decades and consists of many thousands of notes. OneNote is always fully indexed. I can query OneNote on a given word or group of words, and it will instantly find all those notes and give me a clickable list of note titles. I find this invaluable and use it constantly.

I'm asking: How do you put a simple note inside a folder using OneNote?
