The trick with both the Nova Pro Wireless and Heavys is that they can be used Wirelessly or wired.
- The Nova Pro Wireless uses 2./4 GHz connection for the main connection, and also supports BT, and can be used via wired connection.
- The Heavys uses BT (with dual-point connections, meaning 2 different BT devices at any given time) and also supports regular aux wire connection and USB Type-C wired input.
- The Nova Pro wireless has about 20 hours per battery of continuous use (not just standby), and it comes with 2, so one can charge while the other is being used (charger is the base station).
- The Heavys don't have a removable battery, but they last a full 50 hours of continuous use (also not just standby).
So, the $100 Black Friday sale puts that set of cans and bundled accessories at $229 (US) so still expensive (~$350 AUD) but well worth it. I have both Arctis Nova Pro Wireless and its predecessor, the Arctis Pro Wireless, and of course now, the Heavys - and the Heavys win
every single time, everything I've thrown at it for use.
The wired sets I do not have, last time I used a wired set was with the AstroGaming A40 set of cans. The SteelSeries use of 2.4 GHz wireless connections from the base station to the cans really makes it superior to almost every BT headset out there, because even today, BT headsets lag just a bit when broadcast from a device to headphones, though the delay is much less noticeable than it used to be, it is there, and is particularly evident when watching online videos like on YT.
If that is still too expensive, yeah, I can understand. Wired will definitely be cheaper for the SteelSeries than wireless, because their wireless headsets are pretty good overall. But if he hasn't checked them out in detail, I urge you to get him to look into it carefully before he makes a decision.
Also, side note - the app for the Heavys is in development now, and is slated for release on both Android and iOS when it is released.

I'm not looking to make money off anyone who wants to try these cans - I'm just that stoked that they work this well. But, they were developed as a kickstarter program, and while I have a high level of belief in this company, they are not a large company like SteelSeries - and since I have had no issues with them, I cannot say anything as to what their CS is like. SteelSeries CS is pretty good, in the little bit I've had to deal with them, and they have a Discord server, help site, and more, so from that standpoint, they are probably the better bet for things bought for teens and younger ages.
