Jumping over to AMD to update my rig, since Intel has apparently forgotten how to make gaming chips. Now I'm just waiting for my 9800X3D to come in so I can get started.

Left Mogami W2534 Neglex Quad Cable, right Mogami W2549 Cable. Neutrik black/gold and Nickel/Silver 3-pin connectors. Two tone snake colored braided sleeving. Mogami wire is said to be the premier wire for XLR cables in audiophile systems so I'm making my own in size and style.

Also compare to my store bought Canare L-4E6S Canare XLR cables. Mogami's wire rival. Will post images later

And here's one set made using the Mogami W2534 Neglex Quad Cable, snake sleeving and silver Neutrik connectors. Cable is 1.5 feet in length I wanted to keep the cables short since my gear is stacked.

You'll pay about $40-50 bucks for one of those cables. I spent less than $70 bucks for enough materials to make at least 3 sets

Another XLR cable set I made from the stash I bought last week This one using the Mogami W2549 Neglex OFC cable and even better sounding than the one above. What I'm looking for is an XLR cable that's balanced in providing both upper and lower end performance without sacrificing one or the other.

Example the ones above are outstanding in the upper range providing great detail, and an expansive soundstage, but at the cost of some bottom impact. The one I just did, adds a little more bottom impact, in addition to providing a more intimate (closed in) soundstage. Too much soundstage, and my headphones sound unnaturally cavernous and also some loss in bass.

Anyway, these are a keeper as I'm now done with chasing after / making cables. Now to enjoy some music

No problem with gaming on my new Intel build

Anyway, it's always fun when you can put together a good build. BTW, I have those same RAM modules. Love their styling. What speed? What size?

That is a beauty of a build. Well done!

It's 64 GB of DDR5-6600. I haven't had an AMD build since the old Bulldozer days (FX8350) so I'm pretty excited to see how far they've come since then.

Yeah, mine is 4 x 16 gig DIMMS for a total of 64gig of DDR5-6400. I thought I bought 66, but it was 64, and by the time I realized the mistake, I was well past the return period.

Oh, well. Anyway the system is running fine with the Core 9 285K. No issues whatsoever in gaming even at 4k rez.

Nice find. Plenty of power. Most laptops draw 50 to 70W, gaming laptop maybe 120w. I think I'll get one.

I have a 60+ year old Payne FAU & probably the original Thermostat that still works fine.
But I wanted to try a Smart Thermostat after reading a ZDNet article & thought I’d look into them.
I purchased a Google Nest Learning Thermostat (4th Gen, 2024)

After 2 weeks of attempting to get it working properly & adding a Power Connector (for ‘C’ wire, NO JOY), a 18/3 wire & a 24v Dedicated power source

Just ordered a honeycomb standoff plate for my new laser cutter. It's used to keep what is being cut off of the bottom of the cutter bed. Fewer burn marks on the back side that way. This one is a wee bit small for my bed, but it is good for doing small things. I made a bed for the cutter with ceramic tile to be able to use the full size of the cutter. It works great as well, but I do get some flashing on the underside of any wood that I cut which then has to be sanded off. If you do this, make sure you use the back side of the tile, not the glazed surface, or you will have toxic fumes to get rid of.
