I have been going bananas trying to make a status display for my computer. It's fun (yeah yeah, I'm a dorky gal, but what can I say?) and it keeps my programing skills sharp.

But then I found this:

It's a nice little gizmo that you can set up to show almost anything in the PC. Temps, speeds, core load, etc. There were a couple of these on Amazon but some of them required that you had to use AIDA 64, which is more money obviously. This one I bought comes with software. It's almost 9.5 inches wide so it should have lots of room for stuff on-screen.

$88.00 CAD and it will be here on Monday. I shall post of my experience when it gets here, if anyone is curious.

Wow. Colour me impressed. It's hard for women in STEM fields, it must be even harder at MIT. You must be very proud of her.

Thanks! I am very proud of her. It helps that she's a mathematical genius. Literally. She was taking math courses at a college when she was in elementary school. She already has a doctorate in nursing from Vanderbilt, but aerospace engineering has always been a dream of hers.

There was a damsel in distress. She had a fender bender, and couldn't get the driver side door open.
So I ordered these (next day delivery) and came to her rescue.

I have the same shoes. I bought them from Amazon back in July of 2022. They're comfortable and have held up very well. The only thing I don't like is when I forget and wear them on the wet morning grass when I take my dog out. If the grass is wet enough the bottoms of my socks get wet and I have to change them when I get back in the house.

This is good to know! I'll wear different shoes if it's wet outside.

I love Nunn Bush shoes. I have a few dress shoes from them that have lasted 14 years. Light use, but they're like new. Their shoes are extremely comfortable.

Normally when I first get up I'll slip on my rubber soled slippers from Walmart or what ever they call the material but occasionally if I'm in a hurry I'll just grab the first shoes I find to put on my feet without thinking. Back on topic I think you'll like the shoes. Another very comfortable shoe are the ones that @Ghot posted in post #3,449.

Oooo... the blue ones are on sale. ^^
They leave the leather rough on the inside, so you don't "have" to wear socks if you don't want.

Hi there. I got the unit the other day and I am in the process of configuring the little monster. It's a very nice little piece of kit, and the screen is just great. It's sharp and detailed. I am finding the actual setup a little difficult as the instructions are significantly worse than terrible, but a little noodling around and you can do it. Once you get the hang of the little pictograms and icons (that are not documented), it goes a lot easier.

Once I get it all configured, I will post a picture of it in all its glory.

But I have to clean my desk first. It's currently embarrasing.

Here it is, in all of its glory. All set up, and boy was it ever hard. Took me two hours to get it all straight.

Now that I have it all set up, I think I like it. Strangely, the HDD info does not work in my system. Always reads zero, so I couldn't use it.

@jvickers, The blink cameras are really nice cameras. Unfortunately I had to cancel my Blink account. I couldn't find my password to gain access on one of my devices. I had the cameras setup so I could access them on my desktop computer, my cell phone and the Echo Show 8 box. I think it was because I tied the wrong passwords too many times and managed to lock myself out of the account. I figured that I could cancel my account and sign up again in a day or two. When I tried setting up the account I couldn't because I kept getting a message about the email address was already being used. This caused me to get frustrated so I decided to wait a week or two. It's now been months and I just can't get motivated to try again. It has become a I'll get to it tomorrow project. I think the main reason I keep putting it off is because MS did away with the ability to run Android apps on Windows. I think the Android apps will still run if you already have them installed. I still have the Blink app installed but I would have to boot into the Canary build every time I wanted to run it on my computer. I see in the description for the batteries that Blink cameras are listed. I wonder if they have improved the rechargeable batteries. The manual for my cameras said to not use rechargeable batteries so I went with Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries. A little pricey but they do last a very long time.

This is good information! The rechargeable lithium batteries got mostly great reviews. There are 12, and I only have 3 cameras, so I can change them out if they only last 6 months or so.

Oh, I just found out that you can monitor the Blink cameras with the Alexa Windows app. I'll try that out once I set up the cameras. That's my project for this Saturday.

EDIT: Bummer. They discontinued the Alexa app for Windows. Guess I'll use my iPad and iPhone.

If it's the same app I used, it was a Android app and needed Windows Subsystem for android to work. It was nice to be able to look at the cameras on my 32" monitor . One of the many example of MS doing something right but deciding to toss it in trash bin. The Windows phone is another example. Sometimes I wonder if MS really wants to succeed or not.

@jvickers, I was just looking on Amazon and I see they have larger screen Echo devices. The 11" model is looking interesting. When I finally setup my cameras again that just might make it to my Amazon order list.

I converted Alexa's webpage to a Windows app. I'll see how that works. It might do what I want it to. I'll let you know about the batteries.
