Many years ago I had RealPlayer installed on my computer. I don't even remember what OS I was using then. It was later uninstalled but apparently not completely. I recently upgraded my machine to Windows 11 Pro. I had tried several times before but had to revert back because a program that was important to me would not seem to work in 11. I was about to do a clean install, which would have been a monumental task considering the huge amount of programs I have installed, when I decided to try again with the latest version of Windows 11 and of the problem program. After the upgrade it worked fine and I have had only minor problems of any kind since. However, since a recent Windows upgrade, I don't know which one, an annoying problem has developed which I have not been able to solve. Suddenly an icon for RealPlayer Cloud appeared in the Devices and Drives section of the This PC widow and I cannot get rid of it. It does not link to anything; nothing happens when you click on it. I have followed advice on line and tried to install and uninstall RealPlayer the current version which seemed to work but did not remove this orphaned link. I have searched the registry and only found a couple of references to RealPlayer Cloud which I removed. No success. I don't really understand how virtual folders like "This PC" work but I have read that these folders don't contain any real items but just run a programed search. Where is this reference stored and how can I remove it? And incidentally, why didn't it show up in Windows 10 but does in Windows 11?

I couldn't find the correct registry key using only regedit. Found program called regscanner.exe and located the correct key which was in Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MyComputer\NameSpace\. removing the key made the orphaned icon disappear. Still don't know where the registry key came from and why it only appeared in Windows 11
