I found something similar for Windows 10 but the instructions to fix don't seem to apply. I removed MaxxAudioPro from my laptop. It left an orphaned icon in my Start Menu. How do I delete it? I have tried:
- Delete and let Windows remake the icon cache...didn't work
- Item doesn't have an "open file location" option. It also doesn't show up in the typical Start Menu folders.
- I tried reinstalling and then uninstalling the app. That only created a second icon that did remove when I removed the app. The original orphaned icon remains.
Try re-installing the app. Then use Revo Uninstaller Free to remove the app. Once completed, set Revo to do a full scan which will bring up a list of leftover items Revo finds. Check everything and remove.
Revo has both an installed and a portable version. Revo Uninstaller Free
I will try that again but I tried that once already (including using Revo). It removed the "duplicate" icon that is created but the original orphaned icon remained.
Ok...thanks. I had to search through my "library" in Microsoft Store and found that there have been two versions of that software installed at some point. I installed both of them...and then used Revo to uninstall both of them. At this time the orphan entry is not there...fingers crossed. Thanks again for the recommendation to try again.
