OS menu 'stuck' in legacy mode

When I start my system 3 laptop, the OS menu is in legacy mode ie black and white. I want the Metro GUI back which is called 'Standard' in BCDEdit. It appears to be set correctly.

I uninstalled EasyBCD and that seems to have fixed it!

But I want to see it! It's working now, after being dysfunctional all of yesterday and I spent hours with ChatGPT. It was the command,

'bcdedit /set {bootmgr} displaybootmenu yes' that made it visible.

What I now wish for is the Metro GUI - the blue one with tiles.

You would need to disable the black legacy boot menu to see the blue modern one with tiles.

My little ARM64 Surface 7 Laptop has displayed my boot menu like that pic from day one. I thought it was an ARM thing. Is it actually changeable?

Well, my laptop used to have the blue menu.

Yes, it is changeable with;-

bcdedit /set {bootmgr} bootmenupolicy standard

or

bcdedit /set {bootmgr} bootmenupolicy legacy

If I click on this shutdown and restart, I get the blue menu.

Buy, if I click on 'Restart', I get the old, legacy boot menu.
