Outlook 365 Trash folder

My Outlook 365 is using Trash instead of Deleted Items
When performing a search Deleted Items (if configured to do so) and not Trash is included in the search
How can I revert back to using Deleted Items instead of Trash?
How can I add Trash to the search?
I have no idea what I may have done, if anything, to be using Trash

Strange! I went to Windows 11 Search and typed in Trash . . .

The first search of trash, the "best match" was returned as [Delete Temporary Files]
The second search of trash, the "best match" was returned as [Storage Settings]

Then, of course, there were a bunch of web links, which aren't what you're looking for.

Obviously, I'm no help here . . . Sorry.

Are you using Gmail in your Outlook ? When deleting items from my Gmail it goes to 'Trash', my other account from my ISP deletes go the the Deleted Folder.

Aha! That could present a problem if the OP is using Gmail. I don't use it on this computer.

I'm a little confused by the OP's issue/question, but based on both "TheVisitor, and Wynona's response, I'll say I have my Gmail account attached to the 365 Outlook desktop app, and mail deleted from Gmail in there goes in the Gmail trash bin in Outlook....

Since you're using Outlook 365 and having an issue in that, and not Gmail, what type of email account do you have? For my personal email, I have no trash folder, just the deleted items folder. For my university work email, I have a trash folder and deleted items folder.

EDIT:
I just looked through all the Outlook 365 options and don't even see a place where you can indicate you want a deleted item to go to trash instead of the deleted items folder.

Sounds reasonable, and is pretty much what I thought. Although I think my reply wasn't exactly correctly worded.

I keep all my email addresses in Outlook Desktop too, and if I were letting Gmail onto my computer, I'd expect what you are experiencing.

I have gmail on my phone because it's a requirement, not because I use it.

Yeah, it's on my phone, but even there it's attached to my Android Outlook app, and deleted mail goes in the "Deleted" bin under Outlook there...

To clarify, this refers to a Btinternet.com account using PC version of Outlook365

So, is this a new change with BTInternet, meaning it used to be a folder called Deleted before even when you used BTInternet mail?

It could be possible that previously it was synchronizing as a POP account and is now, instead, using IMAP or Exchange. A good way to check would be to log into your BTInternet mail directly from a web browser and see what the folder name is there.

See this page on how to set up your email: How to access your Btinternet.com (BT Mail) email account using IMAP

And you can also check in Outlook what sort of connection is being used.

In Outlook, Click the File menu item at the top.
Now, on the left, Near the top click Info.
To the right of that, look for the square that says Account Settings - it will produce a drop down menu, from which you select Account Settings.
Now you should have a box similar to this one with your account name type (please do NOT post a screen shot of it here - it has your personal email address, we do not need to know it). To the right it should say the account type.
