outlook account issue


this issue is with outlook 2019; i was more than happy with windows live mail before they dumped it.

change the outlook interface back to Classic and set up the gmail, then enable the New interface if you want it

Im late i know...............

Outlook with Office 2019 seems to be giving me trouble when I try to add my old personal email account. It keeps saying it can't log onto the incoming IMAP server, but I don’t even get to the settings where I can adjust ports or passwords. Also, I’m using Outlook on Windows 11, but I’m not a fan of how it works right now. Any ideas?

Of course it won't work. Did you see my post (#8)? Outlook 2019 is classed by Google as a "less-secure app" and will never work with Gmail using your regular password - you need to create an "app password" and use that in Outlook. Post #15 shows the server settings that you need.

not saying that you are wrong, but ALL my email addresses have always worked in outlook until now. Also my primary address is still working fine in the outlook that was the old MAIL in win 11. All this has confused this old fart. That said, I will go back and have another look see. Not giving up yet.

OK then, you now know all the account settings for Gmail in Outlook 2019 and how to get them. Try with your regular Gmail password if you're convinced that it's always worked in Outlook 2019.

Will do; and it has worked fine since 2021 when I first got office 2019. That's what is so strange about this.
In the mean time I am using Outlook in win 11 but I cant get it to drag and drop posts from 1 account to one of the others.

Completed the re-install if office 2019 just in case but same issue still there. Will work on it some more including going over all the suggestions.
