After installing Panda Dome Antivirus and turning on "Automatically vaccinate every USB drive inserted into the PC" I noticed that my USB Hard Drives which where were connected show now as “Local Disk” rather than the label I have assigned to it. Labels however show correctly in Disk Management.

I’ve Googled without much success. One solution is to modify a registry key called DriveIcons but this then ‘hard codes’ a label to a drive letter. I have 2 USB hard drives always conneted to my PC and I tried this but I couldn't get it to work?

I found a couple of pages suggesting doing some work with autorun.inf/ini files, i.e. rename/delete them. However I’ve checked my drives and there’s no autorun.ini/inf to fix (I’ve search for hidden files, etc.)

I've also done the ultimate and backed up one of the drives and done a quick format and then a full format both of which didn't work (Which surprised me)!

I’m out of ideas, can anybody enlighten me a fix or work around to restore the correct label names to the drives or is it impossible because of the vaccination which has been carried out?

Hope someone can help!

Cheers.

Some malware slips by Defender where Panda is more robust in detecting viruses and Malware etc.
I guess its personal choice what you use and trust......

Update:-
Finally managed to remove the vaccination from my USB hard drives and then rename them to what I want, I had to use disk management to delete the volume and then make a new volume and finally a quick format and then rename it.
DiskPart will also do the same job without the GUI
