Patch Tuesday Blues

I don't know how any of you feel, but I like to disable updates on my main desktop come Patch Tuesday until I wait to see if there are reports of issues. I'll use other systems as guinea pigs as well. Seems like Microsoft likes to break things every Patch Tuesday.

Also, since this is the first patch of the new year and I suspect that some of the devs may have had a little too much spiked eggnog over the holidays when this was developed, I'm not real optimistic about getting a quality update today

My experience is generally pretty good with Windows updates I rarely have had a patch cause me issues. I generally hestitate on the optional patches or the ones that take me from say 21H1 to 21H2 to make sure there aren't issues there, but i usually just go ahead and let the normal standard cumulative updates run whenever they choose to do so on my computers.

I backup my systems day before and immediately install Windows updates soon as released, optional as well. I feel it keeps my systems running great

Never Hesitates on any updates whether for 3rd party applications, Windows Updates & such, even UEFI system bios updates are installed immediately myself as i'm the type that would go nuts knowing an update is released and its not installed, would drive me crazy.

Never had an issue over all the years since WIndows Update first released, and if there was issues, usually solveable pretty quickly

I also have not had issues with Patch Tuesday on Win10 and Win11 computers but I don't do many customizations of the machines.

Better be safe than sorry. Make a drive image on an external drive so you can always recover if things go wrong.

My original post was made mostly in jest, although every month there does seem to be at least one issue caused specifically by the update. I agree that these are often the type of issues that may not impact most people, but I simply like to hold off a few days for my main system. I do allow it to install on other systems.

Just did a Win10 and a Win11 and a Linux Mint 21, no issues yet.
