Bought Dell Pc Desktop Inspiron 3670 in 2019 which came with Windows 10 Home pre-installed and did a free upgrade to Windows 11 Home 21H2 on 18/02/2022.
My question is if i had to do a pc reset...would the pc reset to Windows 10 home with Dell bloatware or would it reset to current Windows 11 version with Dell bloatware as the free upgrade is no longer free.
Also , if i download a fresh copy of Windows 11 via Media Creation Tool...would this install just the basic Windows 11 without Dell bloatware and if i want to
install Dell Support Assistant would it work ? And there will be issue with license key as it has Dell OEM key.

The reason i want to know is Dell pc takes about 1-2 minutes to properly load up.
Dell Support Community replies were confusing.

Thank you

The time for the bootup is pretty good when a lot of the 'things' don't have to load. Also affecting that time is anything external plugged in and if a NAS drive is attached, anything attached to the Router. All those things have to be read so Windows knows about them, same for reading the BIOS to know what has to be set up.

And Yes, doing a factory reset should reload every thing back to the day you got it. If it was with Win10 then Upgraded to Win11 it would have to be done again, just went through that last week on an HP Desktop.

Rather than reload, you could always load a Macrium Reflect image, I assume you do make backups. do not count restore points as they do not seem to work very well, very often or when needed

One other thing needs mentioning, a factory reset usually wipes the drive and will lose everything on it.

Thanks for replies Berton,The-Hive,Ben Myers,

Yes i do back-ups with Macrium ....Why Microsoft Developers and Pc Manufacturers make things over complicated is beyond me.
I still have a Asus K31ADE desktop pc bought in 2015-2016 and not suitable for Windows 11 and has Windows 10 Pro eventually
this will end up in Pc graveyard and am still using it as my main pc work and bought Dell pc as the next main pc until Asus 'dies'.

I also have an ASUS Desktop from 2016 as my main but did get a new Desktop in April and Notebook in Oct. that are running Win11 properly, both came with Win10 Pro and Upgraded without issue. None of my other computers will do Win11 properly but still good with Win10 and Linux.

Thanks for reply Berton,

I was going to upgrade my Asus desktop pc to Windows 11 using one of various methods for unsupported hardware but decided against it as i believe Windows 10 will be supported until 2025. I will keep using my Asus pc as main pc as it stills working ok until i mentioned in previous post it 'die's'.

What i have done on the Dell pc was to install programs i use on Asus pc and others items ...sort of a twin which i keep regularly updated until the day comes when Asus pc packs up then use Dell as main pc.

Works for me....and have done a back up of Dell pc in case i need it using Macrium.

Bye...and have a nice weekend

Yes, Win10 supported until EOL Oct. 14, 2025. I'm doing the same with my Dell from April, installing programs I use on my ASUS.

It's difficult to say with 100% certainty what you would get with resetting Windows. My guess would be it would be Windows 10 with Dell bloatware.

Why do you say the upgrade is no longer free? The upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11 will always be free because they use the exact same product keys and digital licenses.

Yes, you can install vanilla Windows 11 downloaded from Microsoft. There will be no issues with licensing or activation.

Just 2 days ago I did a fully clean install on a Dell Inspiron Notebook using the Bootable USB Thumb drive created by the MCT/Media Creation Tool for Win10 provided by Microsoft, can't get any more official than that. The Notebook came with Win8 Home several years ago and was Upgraded to Win10 Pro, I had saved the information using a program so I had the keys. The install got the Home version and activated then I put in that key and got Pro back. It should work the same on Win11.
