Solved Plugged in Batt not charging

This is happening again. I went to Lenovo site and ran a check on drivers. Said all up to date. What happens when the battery does not charge. Is the PC dead---forever? It is running now but the bat
tery is down to 66%. I saw a little menu on taskbar - "battery saver" so clicked on that. Not sure what to do now. Thanks.

The operating system/drivers should not be the issue. You should be able to charge the battery with it powered down. Power it off with the power brick plugged in. You should see some indicator of power and/or charging. If it isn't showing these then either the power brick has failed, the battery has died(won't take a charge) or something with the charging circuit has failed.

I'm a computer enthusiast so have quite a few systems that I run. More like an advanced hobby.
Are the battery and charger both original? Is the charger plug a snug fit in the laptop?

I think the wrong plug was mistakenly put into the laptop. Got the correct one and now working. Just stupid mistake. Thanks very much.

Do you have a Battery Saver in the Dell app?
Did you verify that the Power & Battery in Windows Settings is configured to your needs?
If @glasskuter is around she would be better suited to help with this situation as she has
Dell PCs and works on them. I hope she will hear our call.

Hi - all fixed - just grabbed the wrong plug -duh me. BTW - it is a Lenovo not a Dell but thanks for the other info for future.

Glad you figured it out and hope there are no lasting effects from it. While not as likely as it used to be back in the day when there were so many adapters with different current ratings, using an adapter of the wrong voltage can still cause damage, both to the battery and internal components.

Oh dear. I hope that is true - not as bad as it used to be. The plug from my Kindle Fire was sitting next to the pc plug. After i returned to my desk, I grabbed the wrong one and that's how that happened. Just not paying attention will get you every time. Thanks for your input. Most appreciated.

Should be no problem there. A fire tablet charger puts out a lot less voltage than a laptop charger. It's when your go the other way you can have a problem...a higher voltage charger plugged into a device not rated for the higher voltage the charger puts into it.

To whomever wrote the note below about the likes, I do appreciate it. I really was not aware until the last problem I had and some kind soul told me about it. So I started doing it. Today had me spinning as I thought I had another BIG problem so grace out the window. I went back in and gave likes as apropos and now I learn that points are involved so I will really stay on top of it.

Of more importance to me is knowing any advice I give proves helpful to you and might help someone else on down the road. Sometimes, a thread can go in so many directions we don't know if we help someone or not because the poster never tells us.
