I read it and I'll stick to my position. Yes.. something went wrong but to blame advertising sounds like a hit piece,

The reddit piece clearly shows the JSON involved with this error that hit some people and not others.

And by that same token, half the threads in this forum are also just speculation also, and the vitriol directed at Microsoft for limiting hardware, enforcing TPM and locking down the taskbar, among other things, are also hit pieces.

So, yeah. Those are the facts, take them as you will.

It still speculation, to me at least. Why didn't I run into the issue if it was due to advertising? Wouldn't that have effect every device?

SO is everything about Windows 11 then. Facts are facts.

And Slice and Dice posted answer to that already, as did the Reddit piece - if you already set it up you don't get that ad to run Teams on your system.

Furthermore - can you say every single person on the plant always sees the same advertisement *anywhere*, whether it be in an OS, a program, a website, etc.?

I know that I didn't have any issues and many others didn't. I know that the words seems and possible were used in the post.. that means to me it's speculation.
I have my doubts about the post.. oh and I never got an ad to run teams. If the post was true I should have.

But I know. I'm done with this discussion

This piece of drivel is NOT a fact...

Windows 11 is due for release in October. However, I say it needs to go back on the drawing board. It needs to be rearchitected to decouple it from the cloud. The design requirement is clear: unimportant cloud-dependent systems must be isolated from the core operating system so that they can’t bring the Windows shell to its knees.

It is purely an "opinion" based on how "he" feels things should work. There are no facts presented in that statement. Period.

Opinion or fact...I don't really care...but I have an opinion that agrees with the statement.

The issue needs to be fixed and the OS doesn't need to be redesigned, He's suggesting tossing out the baby with the bathwater.

Fact is we all have opinions - In this particular case you agree with the author where I don't. Therefore we'll agree to disagree agreeably.

Reddit is the last place I'd go for acurate information, that place is akin to a nest of Vipers when anything goes wrong anywhere. The "Facts" appear to keep changing, some of us who updated early never got affected as we updated before whatever it was went wrong or maybe because I have Device Usage settings all turned off to avoid adverts tips and recommendations, I haven't set up Teams as I have no use for it.
Or there may well have been other coincidental things that happened after those of us who updated early like the Time Server issue that at one point was being blamed that caused the Taskbar problem and the Ad wasn't actually the real cause I doubt the full story will ever get told.
Gets very hard these days to separate the actual verifiable facts from the Speculative BS being circulated, in many cases by people who should know better!

But I never said the whole OS needs to be tossed out the window. Just the breaking parts and fix them so they don't break the whole OS.

Just like I have had the opinion of IE being so coupled into the OS for years in older Windows versions that it should have been tossed away or at least completely decoupled from the system and then implemented as it's own module completely separate from everything else.

As a software developer I know that the earlier you decouple things the less headaches you have later on. Modularity is the key and dependencies should be set to a minimum.

Can't disagree with your points.

...but then we also have this, that we need to take into account. All the fixes that I just mentioned is not so easy to do as it may sound.

That's the kind of stuff (albeit 2017) is what gets presented in the boardroom to make up for poor management (means actually nothing in the real world... even doubt the 'engineers' poll ... looks very fluffy to me. Not to say it's easy managing the amount of commits.

What ever caused the problem there is a reason some had it and some didn't. I had the problem when I updated my laptop running the Dev build but not on my desktop running the Beta build. Not knowing that it was a known problem I did a Macrium restore and tried again. The second try was a success. Not really knowing how it works I wonder if some of the MS servers could have had a build with corrupted files that MS had to replace.

Nothing wrong with posting opinions, I do it all the time, and as here some agree and some don't. I meant nothing personal to you or anyone here. Sometimes we disagree and that's fine. The key is to do it gracefully, agreeably :)

Sometimes I come across abrupt buts its never personal.
