A poll to see which imaging programs people use. You can select up to three options (eg some people use more than one program or use a regular imaging program plus a cloud based one).

I installed Aomei based on a thread I saw on this site and did 2 backups... 1 failed. So I switched to Macrium Home and did my first backup today, so I don't have experience of differential backups (yet). I use Acronis on my Macs.

@CornishRattler Nor have I heard of it. I like it's clean interface a lot. If it's dependable, it would be a good option for beginners who have never used backup software before. I get into the pulpit quite often about backups and always preach that I don't care what anyone uses as long as they use something. Folks still ignore my sermons and then blame me when I tell them their files have gone to hell.

In addition to monthly full images with Macrium Reflect, I also have written a batch file using RoboCopy to make full or incremental backup copies of my user document folders to an HDD that is shared on my network through my router's USB socket. I use it to run a full backup once a month, and incremental backups twice a week.

Oh, and I also have File History turned on. You can never have enough backups

I've used Norton Ghost 2003, Acronis and Macrium.
I've tested a few others.

IMO, Norton Ghost 2003 was the best, but it won't run on anything past Windows XP.
Then comes Macrium, which if it has ANY faults, it's just that it's getting too complex.

For my money, backup software should have three things only.
1. Can make full backups.
2. Can restore full backups, even if Windows won't boot.
3. Can make bootable Rescue Media.

Still assembled, still runs. Haven't turned it on for 13 years?

Casper from fssdev.com works quite well. I have it set to image my internal SSD to an external USB HD. That external drive contains everything from the internal SSD and can actually boot the machine (so I can run Casper to restore everything). Pretty neat. The latest update resolved a minor issue where the "last backup" date would always say "never" even though it actually did work fine. This essentially provides the functionality of CarbonCopyCloner (to old ex-Mac users).
