Not one of my PC's have the side door on them, I mean who keeps the door on their PC? :lmao:
Mine don't have a door either, but the beauty of doing backup the right way is you don't need a door. ;-)

I always keep the Glass Side Panel on my Cases

Sunday or early Monday Mornings always connect my 8TB External drive and proceed to get backup done with Macrium Reflect X

Occasionally Hook up my 2nd 8TB External drive and make a 2nd Backup and store that drive in a safe hopefully location, and hopefully my first 8TB WD My Book is also in a safe location

Then i do the other PC tasks after that

My two computers have the glass doors, they're always in place. The backup computer system doesn't get much play unless disaster befalls my main system. My two 4TB NVMe drives sit on top of the main computer, and I keep a USB DVD-W/W drive and a USB floppy drive around, once in a while they come in handy.

Silly? Well it works for me, is that ok? :-)

It sure is, mate. You do you and ignore the criticism. 🙏

    …still on a horse.
I have used Macruim for about 10 years on my 5 pc's. I laptop, 2 Nucs (Windows 11) and 2 Dell towers (Windows 10) The laptop was bought new Xmas sale at the end of 2025 to replace my 10 year old Asus G75VW. I gave up trying to keep it running and it was losing support anyway. It did gave me plenty of practice restoring with my Macruim Recovery USB... I started with the free edition of Macruim after hearing really good comments from users on the Windows 10 forum. I bought the paid version in 2016. I added another backup software program this year. (Rescuezilla) which is a free open source based Linux rescue USB GUI . I have used it many times to backup and restore my new laptop after deciding to dual boot Linux. The Macruim Rescue USB does not support my new Asus laptop. Missing drivers for the keyboard and trackpad. I'm working on getting this fixed. Rescuezilla doesn't have any problems with the keyboard or trackpad.

Good idea, I tried getting them from the laptop directly but that didn;t work, I may try finding them in my backup driver folder that I created with Brink's Tutorial. I will keep you updated...

Over the past (almost) 2 years, I have been updating my Asus TUF Gaming F16 (2024) laptop through the MyAsus app always first, Armoury Crate second. This allows me decide for myself when I want to download and install updates directly from Asus, and which ones (not). I never had any problems with this laptop, it's the best laptop I have ever had, hands down.

I just use a USB mouse and don't need the keyboard. But try both RE and PE builds.

It is a doddle to add drivers to a Macrium Reflect usb drive. Just google it.

Update: I testd a USB mouse & keyboard from one of my other PC's that works. I could restore successfully. I opened ticket with Macrum. I found a thread on the Windows 10 forum that uses DISM to add drivers: DISM - Add or Remove Drivers on an Offline Image. This sounds interesting. It will take me awhile to sort through it. I already have a backup copy of all my drivers. I tried adding the Trackpad driver dowloaded from the Asus Support site to the USB (didn't work) and the Macrum boot folder on my Asus (didn't work). Fast Boot needs to be turned off in bios inorder for the USB to boot Thanks for your suggestions.

Still assembled, still runs. Haven't turned it on for 15 years?
I have used Macrium free for a long time. HOWEVER now that their charging for it I am second guessing using it.
So have I, in fact I liked it so much I bought a 4-pack of v7 licences one Black Friday.....
I'm still using the version 8.1
If that ever quits working, I'll switch to Hasleo.
When v8 was released I upgraded my 4-pack to v8 perpetual licences, now on v8.1. In addition I now have one Reflect X subscription licence.

But I still have more machines than licences, so the rest run Reflect Free v8.0. Will it ever quit working? Maybe, but there no sign of that happening any time soon, Reflect Free v8.0 still works just fine, even in the latest Insider Canary build.

Software development and maintaining a company costs money. Macrium is a great program and the folks who developed it and support it deserve to be able to make a living from it. It's a good value, IMHO.

I agree. I upgraded my 4-pack of 8.1 to a 4-pack of Macrium Reflect X. I've used Macrium Reflect for a long time, I like it and I have confidence in it. My data and photos are priceless to me.
