@Cliff S got me looking at this - I have been focused on the functionality, not performance

In most things I am seeing poorer performance in Windows 11 vs. Windows 10. NVME disk benchmarks are down from 3000-3500 MB/s to around 1800 MB/s. Benchmarks like Realbench 2.56 really suffer. For instance the image editing portion of Realbench in Windows 11 takes 37 seconds, way up from 22 seconds Windows 10. Some benchmarks, like x264 encoding and Cinebench, which are pretty much pure CPU, are about the same. 3D games play without any performance loss.

Windows don't open as quickly, even though I have a RAM cache in front of them - just not snappy.

Was wondering what others are measuring and experiencing.

I've just been doing my usual daily stuff. 20 browser tabs, 4 security camera feeds, one or two RDP sessions, a game, streaming movies, ect.

I have noticed that it does seem to hitch up quite a bit, but I have not yet narrowed down where the bottleneck is. It's especially noticeable when I am playing a dx11/12 game and watching a video or browsing.

I ran CrystalDisk Mark 8.01 under Win10 and Win11. The Wind 11 benches were as good as the Win10 ones, with the exception of one of the "random write" ones.

The drive is a WD Black SN850.

Do I know what this means? Not really. I can't even guess whether it's real, or an artifact of the test.
