Hello 11Forum members,

I am not sure if my question about networking around my W11Pro clients is suitable for this forum, if not then it can be dropped directly.

I have a noob question about my planned network.
My current network (left) and new network (right) is shown below.

I want my current network split up in VLANS but I am new in this matter.
To achieve this I will buy a router which is capable for VLANS, a QNAP Qhore 322.

In the 2 current switches I want to create VLAN1 to VLAN3 and on the new Router I want to create VLAN4.

In this new configuration VLAN1 contains the PC, Printers and Server (DC, DNS etc) and a large storage as 16TB Synology NAS.

VLAN2 contains the IP Cam’s + my old 4TB NAS for video storage.

VLAN3 contains all WiFi AP's.

I am thinking about going for option 2 (VARIANT 2) on the schema below. In that case the VLAN2 and VLAN3 do not go through Switch 1 when going on the internet, but is that correct?
The router is connecting the 4 VLANS together.

I am not sure it is possible to create VLAN4 on the Switch part of the Router, if not please tell me.

The planned network is just from a hobby perspective and not professional. It is also overkill to have a DC running for just me and my Son but I just like experimenting with it.
I also planned to start a Webserver and RRAS server in VLAN4, which I assume is safe to the rest of the network.

I am thinking about going for VARIANT 2. In that case I can setup the whole network and can make changes later. I need to learn how to act with VLANS first.

It is also possible to place this whole network behind another router which is provided by my Internet Service Provider (ISP). The Settopbox is probably best placed direct behind that router. Which is also the case in the current setup with the Linksys Hydra Pro 6e. which unfortunately does not support VLAN’s.

I am not sure what my current ISP is going to do with the internet connection speed. At the moment I can choose with another provider for 5Gbit via fiber. My current ISP also use fiber but the final connection to my home is still Coax. When my current ISP upgrade the speed also they will probably give another modem/router and the specs for that one are unknown for the moment.

So I am still aiming for the QNAP Qhora 322 Router. This router is fast and has 6 2,5Gbit and 3 10Gbit ports which are suitable for a few years I think. So the extra investment is permitted.

My sons desktop already has a 2,5Gbit QNap network interface card (NIC) so he will probably be the first with high speed when my ISP upgrades the speed. In that case he should be added to VLAN40 I think.

If something in the schematic below is wrong, please tell me. Help will be appreciated.
