Preserve original emails in Outlook when replying

How do I stop Outlook removing the original email from my inbox when I reply to the email ? It's still there in my sent items but with my reply as well. I hope I make sense.

Not too sure if it might have something to do with “Sort by conversation”
In the View tab of the Ribbon, and in the Messages group, un-check the Show as Conversations check box if it is checked to see if that helps?
Also check for any message rules in Outlook, although unless you have created one, there shouldn’t be any.

You may have a problem with the default view. Change it to show all emails and not just unread messages in this folder.
