@Pirilampo2 that seems to open Snipping Tool, which is what I use anyway. I do tend to use SnagIt as well.

Beginning with Windows 95 the PrntScrn sent the contents to the Clipboard making it available for Paste into a number of programs. Adding to the change was the advent of USB printers/loss of the 25-pin parallel port used for older printers. Some Notebooks require a combination of keys to make the function work. But there's nothing in your My Computer about your equipment to help with possible solutions.

I would like the printed screen to save automatically to the screen shots folder like on my other computer.
Mine does that when I press WinKey+PrntScrn. The screen should dim briefly to show it's working, and the image is saved to your Pictures\Screenshots folder.

fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October.

I'm thinking if you have OneDrive turned on and working, the images may autosave to OneDrive.

Edit: Here is a link explaining: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...saved-as/764931ee-c7bb-4f70-af6b-01980a3a5d45
It is on but those instructions do not take me to a "Backup" tab. It might be a solution if I can get there.

Mine does that when I press WinKey+PrntScrn. The screen should dim briefly to show it's working, and the image is saved to your Pictures\Screenshots folder.

See if you have turned on 'use PrtScn to open Snip & Sketch'. If so, turn it off.

Try pressing the Fn and Print Screen keys at the same time to see if a screenshot is successfully taken with this shortcut. You may also try the Fn + Windows key + Print Screen combination. Check if your Print Screen key is working when you use this key combination.
