Several members of this forum have a signature reminder to users to use the Like button if it's appropriate. For others, there's a reminder to mark it solved if appropriate, and others have a sig that asks users to point out any particular post that was most helpful (we don't have a "best answer" kind of category here, though John has been asked about it. He says it would get really messy, and I agree). I'm not pleading guilty to any violation of forum etiquette or any bending of the rules. I think it's perfectly reasonable to point out to a user that rewards are significant to the volunteers here, especially when the user may not be aware of that fact. But thanks for your word of caution.

That is not entirely correct. You can connect a wired printer to any router (which almost everyone has nowadays, stand alone or ISP provided) that has a built in print server function. All you do is plug it into the router and enable the built-in print server and then any device on the network can access it. No need for the printer server function if connecting the printer wirelessly (not possible in the OP's current situation)

In my case my printer is Wi-Fi enabled and connected to my router as such. I can print to it no problem from my desktop (which has zero Wi-Fi) hardwired to the router, or any other device in the house connected to the router (Wi-Fi or wired).

Tx for that reminder. I should have told her that the hard connection between the printer and sending device was necessary to enable the software to successfully install. In her case, though, that would probably have just complicated my attempt to help.

Asking a poster to close a thread if it is solved helps others to know that a solution was found is not the same as asking for likes. Asking a user to close a solved thread helps others with the same problem to know there is a possible solution in that thread. Asking a member for likes is only good for personal gain. I know on one of the forums I did read that we're not supposed to ask for likes. I don't remember if it was on the Seven, Eight or Ten forums but I did read it.

I only mentioned it because and I think you will agree, We're here to help others when they need it and to receive help when we need it. I do appreciate it when someone gives me a like but I want them to do it because they want to and not because they think they have to.

Try wiping the ink cartridge's inky parts with a damp kitchen towel (paper towel). The nozzles may be blocked. This uses little or no ink.

If that doesn't help use the maintenance tab in the Canon software to do a clean.

Go to Control Panel, Devices and Printers, right click on the printer and select 'printing preferences'....'maintenance'.....cleaning.

If that doesnt help repeat, but select 'deep cleaning'.

Hi - thanks. You know I did a deep cleaning twice. The printer prints pages of text just fine. The only time it doesn't is with photos. I love this printer. It was a cheapie but it works for me and prints beautiful colors. So I'm really bummed that on win11 it doesn't work properly. That kind of makes me think it was something in the installation that went awry. Any thoughts. Thanks for your suggestions.

Can you just confirm that photo printing is still good on your old computer? This would prove tht the printer was not the problem and point to software or operating system.

The printer was fine on the old win7 pc. I think it was the install on the win 11 HP - but as I've said, it prints fine for text - just photos do not print properly. To me that says the installation got screwed up. My friend followed the instructions so don't know what went wrong. I am going purchase wireless Canon for another room that I will use for my photos. My friend is happy with the printer as she just prints text stuff. Thanks.

If the new printer has the option, connect it to the Wi-Fi router instead of the computer. I find this not only easier but it allows the printer to be accessed from all devices connected to the network.

I can only think of three reasons. 1. The ink cartridge. 2. The Windows 11 driver. 3. The software you are using to print the pictures. If you can I suggest you do a quick test on the old computer before trying to diagnose the problem.
