Solved Printer install

I have a Canon MG2522 printer. It is not wireless. It is currently installed via usb on my desktop. I would like to install it on my Lenovo laptop. How do I do that? Thanks.

plug a USB cable in to the laptop and turn the printer on and run the software you downloaded.

Maybe I didn't understand. Are you trying to run that printer from two computers by USB cables at the same time?

If it's the latter, you need a switch. They don't cost much. you plug both PCs in to the switch, and the switch into the printer, and SHAZAM! All you have to do is use the switch. Example:

Hi - The printer is currently installed on my HP desktop via usb. I want to install it on my Lenovo laptop. I just downloaded the driver for the 2522 from the Canon install disk to my Lenovo. It says Installed - print test page. No deal. Sent test page but didn't arrive. My friend keeps telling me that I can't connect my laptop to the printer because the printer is not wireless. Maybe she's right. Thanks.

No. She's wrong. You just need a switch.

But since it's a laptop, I can walk it into the other room and plug it in eh? Guess that might work. A little inconvenient but doable. Thanks.

You have to have a cable long enough to connect the Lenovo to the switch, and the switch to the printer. No deal if you can't cable them together.

So the install I did is dead -- right? The only way to do it is with a switch?

Yeah. If you just want one connected to the printer at a time, you can pull the USB from the HP and plug it into the Lenovo, and use the software. Then unplug the cable from the Lenovo and plug it back into the HP. Tedious, but doable.

See post #10: If you want to use the printer, you have to walk the laptop into the room wher the cable is. Inconvenient, but doable.

That only means the software was successfully installed. If it wasn't done with the printer connected, then UNinstall it, and then follow the sequence in post #2:
"plug a USB cable in to the laptop and turn the printer on and run the software you downloaded."

I think the install you did without the printer connected (if that's what it was) is dead. Connecting the printer after the fact doesn't cut it.

You left out a step, Patsy. Plug in to Lenovo - turn printer ON - install software on Lenovo. It should let you FIND the printer at some stage of the sware installation.

Thank you all once again. It is installed. Now the images are printing with lines running through them. An issue for Canon.!!

Sure - really helped. Now I have to find a way to eliminate the streaks on my photo prints. This is a terrific printer and does a super job - it worked fine on the Dell win7 - I installed it on new hp win11 and now the output is terrible. I really don't understand why that would be. It prints text fine - so I know it isn't clogged "anythings" - just photos. Anyway, thanks again.
