I was just going in to my settings and noticed the some of the settings are managed by my organization. I haven't noticed anything any setting that I want to change and they are preventing me, but, I would prefer to not have my organization control any settings. My best guess to why this may have happened is because I have Office 2016 installed. I use my personal account which is my windows acct with the exception of Outlook. That program I use my work email and when setting in up I chose the box to only manage this app, not my whole PC.
Is there anyway to change this and remove them while still keeping Office 2016 installed ?

I look at my desktop and it is the same. On that I don't have Office installed at all. When I did a search I saw many posts that have "organizations" controlling settings so maybe it just the way things are. I don't like it but it's not preventing me from any changes I would like to make. I guess I will just leave it for now unless someone chimes in and has a idea to fix it.

Maybe it's a Dell / OEM / warranty thing? This laptop is just over 4 weeks old. [shrug]

There is no 'organization' as such. It's a generic term that just means someone (which could be you) has made some registry changes that modify the behaviour of these settings. Often they can be due to a policy that you have enabled in the Group Policy Editor, for example this one when enabled adds the 'organization' message in Diagnostics & feedback, setting the policy to 'Not Configured' removes it.

Using third party tweakers, particularly ones that claim to protect your privacy, can also have the same effect. As can editing the registry yourself.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

    I've now clean installed 25H2 and used Garlin's scripts to update Secure Boot to CA 2023 and revoke the PCA 2011 certificates. It's new role is to test secure boot issues.

Is that similar idea to that Firefox "...browser is being managed by your organization..." notice one gets at the top of the Settings page? I see several other posts with similar "...managed by your organization" from other sections of W11.

Similar, in the case of Firefox it's usually because a 3rd-party AV has put some policies in the registry to control your browser.

These should not appear in a clean install. They can appear in any section of Settings if certain relevant registry settings are added or changed from their defaults. This could be due to enabling a Group Policy using gpedit, using a 'tweaker' to modify Windows, or manually editing the registry to add a 'tweak' you found on the internet.

Unless it was done through gpedit (where you can see which policies have been enabled, and set them back to Not Configured) it can often be difficult to track down the cause of (and remove) any particular 'organization' warning.

Yeah I used that Firefox fix back when I was started with this laptop couple weeks ago. I know nothing of Group Policy, my 11 Home install came with my laptop, just had a recent W11 update. So for now I am slightly annoyed, but not concerned with some organization managing, um, what?

In that case the policies concerned may have been put there by the OEM in their custom install of Windows, perhaps to support their own OEM update utility. Home does not include the group policy editor, that's only in Pro.

    My SYSTEM FOUR is a 2-in-1 convertible Lenovo Yoga 11e 20DA, Celeron N2930, 8GB RAM, 256GB ssd. Unsupported device: currently running Win10 Pro, plus Win11 Pro RTM and Insider Dev, Beta, and RP 24H2 as native boot vhdx.

    My SYSTEM FIVE is a Dell Latitude 3190 2-in-1, Pentium Silver N5030, 8GB RAM, 1TB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro, plus Insider Beta, Dev, and Canary builds (and a few others) as a native boot .vhdx.

    My SYSTEM SIX is a Dell Latitude 5550, Core Ultra 7 165H, 64GB RAM, 1TB NVMe SSD, supported device, Windows 11 Pro 24H2, Hyper-V host machine. Updated to 25H2 on 30th September 2025.

    My SYSTEM SEVEN is a Lenovo Thinkpad T580, Intel Core i7-8650U, 16GB RAM, 512GB NVMe SSD + 2nd 512GB NVMe SSD, a supported device for Windows 11. This is my current general purpose 'main machine'. The installed Windows 11 Home from my System One has been migrated to this machine.

There is no 'organization' as such. It's a generic term that just means someone (which could be you) has made some registry changes that modify the behaviour of these settings. Often they can be due to a policy that you have enabled in the Group Policy Editor, for example this one when enabled adds the 'organization' message in Diagnostics & feedback, setting the policy to 'Not Configured' removes it.

Using third party tweakers, particularly ones that claim to protect your privacy, can also have the same effect. As can editing the registry yourself.
